It arrived early much to my delight. The mouthpiece came in good solid packaging and was really well protected, a big thank you to the vendor for that.I slipped a synthetic #2 reed in place with a rovner ligature. It took a little to find my footing but once I was there it was off to the races.Right away I was quite surprised with how bright it plays and the level of projection. I would comfortably say it more than easily competes with my Jody Jazz Jet mouthpiece on those two fronts. It is a really easy mouthpiece to play once I found where it liked to be in my mouth. It hits everything from the lowest to the high notes easily. The one drawback, and this may simply be a case of becoming familiar with it first, is that when I try to growl on it the mouthpiece doesn't respond as well as some of the others in my collection. It ends up feeling a little bogged down in the growl. Again, that could change with familiarity.Overall I give it really good marks for playability, finish, overall appearance. It did not come with any kind of ligature which was a bit of a surprise but not the end of the world. If you're looking for anything dark this is not the mouthpiece as it just doesn't grab on to the subtones. Will update if the growl comes into play once I've spent more time with it.

I had been playing Yamaha standard mouthpieces with C4,C5,C6, and C7 openings for a while, finally deciding the C6 was perfect, I purchased the custom TS6CM mouthpiece with the same tip opening. I expected it to play similar to the standard C6. I was surprised to find I had trouble even playing any note at all. It felt very constricted, and was not at all free blowing like my C6. I tried many different embouchures and had the best success taking a lot of mouthpiece and keeping a very light touch. Still found everything was playing flat and any note above high G almost impossible. It was no fun at all to play, and after finally becoming comfortable with my embouchure as it is, I had absolutely no desire to start over again to accommodate a new mouthpiece. I have returned it. Please keep in mind that I have only been playing a little over 2 years, and your results may vary. I have always had a high regard for Yamaha music products, and this rating reflects my experience with this mouthpiece only. Before you purchase it just keep in mind it does not play at all like a standard Yamaha mouthpiece.
