I think this emitter is great on a sloped yard. My yard has a slope on the front and side of my house. My gutters are 6 inch and I have them all around my house. I have a raised flower bed on the front and side of the house and the gutter drain on those sides runs beneath the flower bed and they exit into the yard. I was using 4 inch pop-up drain emitters I found at my local big-box home improvement store and they weren't working well. One reason is because of the size of the opening of that emitter wasn't large enough to accommodate water coming out of 6 inch gutters. A second reason is that the pop-up mechanism on those emitters tends to stick in the closed position. I have to unstick them before a rain. If I didn't do that, the water runs over the gutter and into the flower beds. The last thing is that after a couple of years, those green colored emitters faded in the sun and began turning whitish in color. So 6 months ago, I bought two of these heavy-duty angled emitters. I had them installed for the downspouts that run under the flower bed on the side of my house. I left those pop-up emitters as-is on the front side because I wanted to see how these new ones worked. I've included a picture showing you what they look like. These two angled emitters I've been using for 6 months are exactly like this this angled emitter I'm reviewing. The size of the unit, the material (which is heavy duty like schedule 80 or maybe larger), the color, etc. are all exactly like this emitter I'm reviewing. I've monitored the performance of the ones I installed 6 months ago in medium to heavy downpours and they perform excellently. The flow in a heavy downpour can easily handle what the 6 inch gutters are feeding them. Note that elected to not run these from the gutter downspout extension all the way to the street, so they simply drain into my yard. If I decide to change that in the future, it will be an easy conversion. Considering the quality of this emitter for the price, I think it's an excellent value. If I didn't convert my drainage to these, I would have to replace those cheap pop-up emitter every 3 years or so, and that would make no sense because of their performance. I recommend this product.

This attachment works well and fits my round pipes (obviously not my square downspouts). Not much else to say about it.

This is a very sturdy, solid, well-made product. Commercial grade. We use this ‘Musselton Yard Drain Emitter’ as just that. We have a horse barn fairly close to our pond. We keep the paddock drainage away from the pond, but anything to reduce the water going to the paddock is helpful. I added gutters to the barn, directed the gutter drains to the end, and piped the roof rain water to the pond via 4-inch drain tile (tube). I used this yard drain emitter to stop anything (rodents) from crawling back up the pipe to the barn side. Gutter guards are essential to keep the pipe from clogging. Now the paddock receives only its own rain water, not the barn’s also. This is a very sturdy, solid, well-made product. Commercial grade.

I really like this drainage grate. Our house is up higher than the land around and lots of trees around our house. We were using large rocks around the end of our drainage pipe. That made mowing round them hard. This grate has made it possible for us to get rid of the rocks. This grate would be better if it was able to be opened easily to get the leaves out that accumulated. It is a heavy duty material.

This yard emitter came exactly as described. I use these for my sump pump exit to help avoid water pooling. They install easy and look really clean when you're finished. The material and quality feel good, I'm confident they'll last a long time.

This is a surprisingly heavy piece. I was expecting something lighter, but the plastic pipe is incredibly thick and robust. The green grate screws onto this pipe. The grate is also thick plastic that should be able to take a fair amount of force.

This may fit the end of a four inch expandable plastic drain pipe but it will not fit a four inch solid PVC drainpipe. For that you need an adaptor. And, while I thought this was a great investment to remove water further from my home, now I am not so sure that a drain this long, with this large a slotted cover is actually necessary. I'm just not certain that the angled, long drain adds any value or usefulness. If I were not adding this to an established underground drain (ours sticks out of the ground at the end of it where the ground drops off) perhaps it would be useful. I would then turn the angled section upside down so that the soil could not block the drain from emptying.

I ordered 2 of these drain emitters from 2 different companies to compare them side-by-side. While nearly identical, there are a couple of differences. Each is made of 4" schedule 40 grey PVC pipe which is cut at an acute angle to form the oval shaped drain opening. A plastic grate is attached with 2 screws. If installing this on a 4" schedule 40 pipe, a coupler is needed. If installing this on a 4" schedule 20 or corrugated pipe, an adapter is needed - this is detailed in the item listing.Of the 2 units that I purchased, the grate on this unit has a darker green color, which looks better IMO. However, oddly, this unit has zinc-plated round head screws securing the grate - even though the holes in the grate are countersunk. The other brand uses more appropriate flat head screws, which appear to be stainless steel. In a perfect world, I would take the grate color from this unit and the screws from the other unit. The easy solution is to replace the round head screws with stainless steel flat head screws from the hardware store. I may get to that in a bit, or I may forget about it; as these are installed under a bush in the yard, only I will notice the differences. While this seems a bit pricey at $40, plus the cost of an adapter, it installed easily and will be very effective at keeping critters out of the drainpipe!
