The winder works well enough, but requires help the tention loop is incredibly useless, and will not stay up. it cannot work any faster than a crawl. However, it does work and is good for a beginner or for small unimportant projects. I would never buy again, but it isn’t the worst I’ve ever worked with

If you're like me and you're not sure you're going to stick with this new hyper-focus this is a good starter set. The umbrella is not very sturdy when winding (it wiggles a lot like its going to break) and doesn't hold on to the table very well (had to push it back) but that could be me not getting it really tight.

I put off purchasing one of these for a long time because they seemed frivolous, but after tangling hanks too many times, I finally bought one. This product was broken the first time I used it. The clamps are terrible and don't stabilize the product. The umbrella part had jump rings attached in the wrong places. The yarn continuously gets wrapped around the base and jams -- which also ruined my really expensive yarn (unless you're ok having knots tying it together every 10 yards!) Returned immediately. I'm hoping one of the more expensive ones works better.

While you can use it, I noticed that it kept collapsing on me, the yarn would get caught and it was just overall a little awkward. Next time I will be purchasing a wooden one.The winder is also a bit iffy. The yarn guide on it will not stay pulled out and constantly falls while winding the yarn causing the yarn to get wound around the gears under the spinner. I will be buying a better quality one next time. Both items are usable, but they are not the best quality and when I purchase again, I won't be purchasing these.

Lower end product but does the job. I'd love to have a wooden swift but, alas, I am poor. This one works for me!

The swift works really great, smooth spinning and easy to set up and take down. I bought this for the swift and I am very happy with it.The yarn ball winder works. But the metal guiding hook keeps falling to one side or the other. It only stays upright when it's fully extended, but easily gets pushed back in and falls over again if the winding pauses. If you have a table with two overhanging edges, you should set up the swift and winder on two different edges. My table only has one overhang, so the swift and winder are parallel and it is not as efficient as it could be this way.You are also limited to the table width. If you have a thicker table, the winder will not fit so pay attention to the listed dimensions. The winder is also not easy to store, I don't know how they packed it, but I cannot get it back in the box it came from. (Both the swift and winder have their own small boxes for easy storage... except the winder won't go back in.)The yarn cakes that come off the winder feel a little delicate, but once you let the yarn ball settle for a little bit, it will hold onto itself.I recommend this product.
