So it's light, it's bright, it's a great focal length for portraits. Image quality is okay, a bit soft, certainly not as sharp as my brand lenses (Panasonic, M Zuiko). But the big issue for me is the aperture blades seems to get stuck occasionally, which manifests as the image being taken at a wider aperture than intended. For example, I put aperture at f2.8, and the lens aperture doesn't close fast enough when pressing the shutter so I end up with a photo taken at f1.7 which is more than one stop over-exposed.The only work around I've found is to take a lot of photos automatically one after the other, and then I can see a third to half of them are over-exposed due to an unproperly closed aperture diaphragm, but the rest are fine.Maybe it's just my unit, showing poor quality control from Yongnuo, maybe it's a common issue, I don't know. If I had known, I wouldn't have bought it and would have paid a bit more for the Panasonic or M Zuiko lenses.

For an inexpensive lens the image quality is pretty impressive. To me it has an almost an old film lens quality to it. Wish I had purchased this lens sooner.

I was so curious on how this Chinese made lens was made. I have read mixed reviews about this lens and sad to say, some claims it has weather sealing but when I received and examined the lens, I found out that it is not weather sealed. I was looking for a good portrait lens with at least a splash seal but there was none.As per the performance of the lens, it is quite slow in reaction time and there are times, it fail acquiring the subjects focus. I never encountered these type of issues with Lumix 25mm f1.7 which I used extensively.Overall, it is a decent lens with a very bad aesthetics in a slow reaction time. For portraits inn the studio, this is perfect with good lighting especially outdoors. It delivers as expected.

Impressively well-constructed for the price. It doesn't look or feel as cheap as I expected it to. I'm not a pro photographer, but the optics seem more than sharp enough for my needs. The equivalent 85mm focal length is best suited for portraits but I find that it can also be a decent walkabout lens at times. I really like this lens. Yes, the Panasonic 42.5mm lens is sharper and it includes image stabilization...but the Yongnuo is much less expensive and it's surprisingly good for that price.
