While this may not be the slimmest profile for flashes, it works fantastic with my nikon Z6ii and is great for its price point. No complaints so far in the 2 months.

I know I’m not using it to its full potential but I really do like how it works. I like the higher speed feature that’s fun! I like the red focus light grid thing and the head swivels good.

I bought 3 of the 960ex II flashes. I only use them occasionally, but they are always stored in a safe temperature controlled space. I went to use them today, and 2 of 3 are dead for no reason. I have changed the batteries, even double checked that my new batteries are in good working order.I’m very dissatisfied. These are out of warranty, but in now way have they been mistreated and there is no reason that I should be down 2 of my 3 lights. I hope that yongnuo will reach out to help make this right.

I am new to flash photography. It worked great. However I turned off the camera during the dinner portion of the reception. I turned it back on but the flash would not turn on. I start panicking a little. I google the issue. Here the contacts for the battery in the flash sometimes are bent to low. After I used a pick sorta tool it fixed the issue.

I've been using a first edition Yongnuo 685 as my primary flash for a number of years now. I love that unit too, but it's always felt like a knock off. Quite frankly, I expected it to die on my, but I've been using it for 5 years and it's still going strong so I decided to give myself a Christmas gift and get the 968N II.Oh! This is what I always wanted the 685 to be! It still doesn't feel quite as robust as a Nikon speedlight, but it no longer handles like a second-rate knock off and it does everything I liked about my 685, but just a smidge better.I especially like the lock tab that prevents the hot-shoe clasp from accidentally unfastening. This is really big for people like me who handle their bulky cameras very actively. The last thing you'd want is for you to grab it by the flash and watch the camera and your expensive lens loosen and crash into the ground. The other thing I like about it is that the UI controls are more responsive. A huge pet peeve of mine with the 685 was turning the adjustment dial when I'm trying to manually set my flash power and not seeing the actual number change if you turned it too fast. Turn it 8 clicks up quickly and it might only go up by 2 steps. Now it doesn't matter how fast I turn it. 8 clicks is 8 steps. For me, these two details are entirely worth upgrading from my first gen YN flash. I shoot events and some street so I need gear that I can work fast on. If I shot in less chaotic circumstances, I would have been fine with my old units.

Works flawlessly with my Nikon D4 and also Yongnuo 560-TX. When I ordered it, I thought the LED feature was probably a gimmick, but I was very surprised at how good it is and how powerful it is! HSS plus 20 - 200mm coverage is also surprising considering the cost of this flash. The build quality is also excellent, and the speedlight is much heavier than my 560iiis and 565exs. Definitely worth it considering the overpriced Nikon alternatives.A little tip: when used in bounce mode with the flash head raised, the flash unit causes underexposure. To fix this, set the flash exposure compensation on the flash to +2.00 and it gives exactly the same results as when the flash head is in the 'normal' forward position.

Truth be told, I have had 3 flashes die on me. A Nikon SB600, a Nikon SB700, and a Yonguo 685N. The difference being that Yongnuo was much cheaper to replace. When I relaized my SB700 was dead, I considered getting another Nikon unit, but I honestly just felt let down by them, so I opted to get an updated Yonguo YN968II, as my previous YN968 wasn't working with my new Z6II.I actually also ordered a Godox at the same time with TTL and HSS, which I got first. That unit worked well, but in the end I liked the TTL ability of the Yongnuo slightly better. And, I am fully invested in the Ynognuo 560 system, with 2 TX units and 8 (!) 560 III/IV flashes. It is exceptionally rare that I need all those flashes, but they are in part backup units. A main light, hair highligh, and side light where I might (rarely) want to double some lights can take 4 units. While the Yongnuo units seem to lack some of the pizazz of the Godox, their version II updates are an improvement in ease of use,So, my experience of years of Yongnuo shows me that Yongnuo delivers awesome value and reliability. This unit so far has proven just as reliable.

Saw this Mark II versions and bought it over the previous version. After a quick read through both manuals (Z6 & Yongnuo) I was up and running. Shooting 1/500+, while the flash auto zooms with my 24-70mm 2.8 (which, I can now shoot at f5.6 in low light without thinking of my flash settings.) I'll adjust my review in the long term, regardless if anything changes.
