Th was a good pattern to follow, liked the already stitched back. Hook was really flimsy and the yarn wasn’t great.. Especially the number 8 light blue one, yarn just falls apart doesn’t tighten and just turns into fluff, completely ruined the overall look. Disappointed as it had great potential.

While the overall product is worth it, there are a few drawback details that I wish to share in my review. My latch hook came fast (same day shipping) and was delivered in good condition with everything the kit stated it would have. The hook it lightweight and easy to use. The graph is easy to follow along, though the pictures of the yarn colors are small and a little grainy. The kit comes with extra yarn which is nice since not all strands of the precut yarn are the same length and thickness. Some strands are half the thickness of others and as for having longer pieces of yarn, you can always cut them down a little. But again, with extra yarn I just presorted everything before beginning the project to make the yarn would be even length. As for the actual latch hook grid, I will say that the padded backing is a nice touch. While the concept is there, the stitched edging covers some of the latch hook grid squares. Based on my picture graph and the grid provided I have decided to skip the and first and last row of the pattern as well as skipping the first and last grid square. So basically instead of completing 80 rows (top to bottom) I will be completing 78 rows and each row will have 58 grid squares (left to right). For being my first project in 15 years it’s a nice place to start and the completed project should still resemble the picture despite the changes I personally decided to make. Hope this review helps others.

It's very frustrating when colors are very similar and no way to identify them. It really shouldn't be that hard. I have been latch hooking for 30 years and this one, which is the smallest one i have done so far, is the most frustrating. Other than that i have no other complaints but it seems like a big one. They should mark the yarn packaging to identify which is which.

I have been having fun refreshing my memory about how to do latch hook rugs. I have not done this since I was a kid. I watched some online videos to remind myself of the basic stitch. The 4 diagrams of making a stitch included on this package (see photo) was not helpful to me. Once the basic stitch is mastered, it is done repeatedly. I do believe kids, adults, or elderly can learn how to do this.The yarn feels soft and luxurious to me. It is a joy to work with. However, some yarn pieces were cut very uneven, such as the reds (see photo). This can disrupt the balance of the rug. I am hoping I don’t need buy some more yarn to finish this. I recommend following the map included (see grid with letters), which details exactly which color to use. Otherwise, the preprinted image was disappointing to me. Colors and spaces seemed “off”. I found discrepancies between the photo, preprinted image, and detailed map in the package.I ordered this to experiment a little. I am more pleased with the colors in person, as they are more intense and livelier. The online and kit photo do not do it justice. I find the wolf portrait interesting and colorful.

I do a lot of crafts, but this is my first latch-hook kit! I'm enjoying it, and it comes with everything you need, though I recommend getting a different hook. I thought I liked the one that came with this kit until I got a bent hook with a wooden handle, which works MUCH better and makes the latch hooking go a lot faster. I found the instructions on how to actually do the latch hooking to be kind of confusing and I had to watch a couple YouTube videos to pick it up, but I expected to have to do that anyway, and it wasn't a big deal.Overall, this seems like a great kit. The strands of yarn are evenly cut, the rug has a nice, non-slip backing to it, and the edges are sewn. The pattern is easy to follow, and I like that the colors are printed on the backing, so you don't have to count or keep looking at the printed pattern. (There are some discrepancies between the pattern printed on the paper and the one printed on the rug itself, but nothing that seems to matter, and it says if that happens to just follow the one on the rug.) Recommended whether you have experience with latch hooking or just want to try it out!
