The Yost Vises MA-340 4" magnetic aluminum vise jaw caps attach to and cover a set of 4"-wide serrated vise jaws to shield delicate work from damage. The caps are made of aluminum for durability and have a smooth grooved surface that provides enhanced grip while preventing the clamped item from being marred. The magnetic backing runs the full length of the cap to securely bond it to the front of the vise jaw. Two jaw caps are included.

On the positive side, the magnets aren't so strong as to firmly grab items through the jaws, and the strip means any magnetism that is there is exhibited evenly and not to any point. On the negative, these don't grab the jaws of my Irwin very firmly and can be tapped out of place very easily. A bit annoying at times, but far from a deal breaker

I use these to flatten wire and remove them to use the vise with the standard metal pads.

I have these on my Wilton vice. They do their job but the magnets are barely sticking to the steel jaws.

I was hesitant to purchase these after reading a few reviews about the quality of the magnets. However, i bought these to replace the $10 plastic jaws i already bought on amazon, which had junk magnets that fell out and were really weak. These yost ones do the job for the most part, and the tolerance the jaws were manufactured to is the highlight. Keeping these.

I like my Yost vise, these complement it nicely, the price is right and they will save you from marking up softer metals and surfaces. You may still want a plastic set for really soft materials.
