Works for my little beagle who sleeps on screen porch . He has a dry soft bed and is a chubby boy w thick hair, but if it gets below freezing I plug it in. It hands about 2 ft above his bed. Puts out just right amount of heat I think.

The bulb is 150W as it mentioned, I have used it the past few nights, and it seems to do just fine.I really like having the ceramic bulb; it is so much better than the big glowing red heat lamp bulb we had previously. With that bulb, the fire department knocked on our door at 3am due to a neighbor thinking we had a fire. With the ceramic bulb, there is no light, so no neighbors to scare :)
