This hood screws on, but normal hoods have a lock that allows them to be mounted backwards when not needed. This screw method means either it is on or off. A disappointment.

The product is okay if you are using zoom otherwise 4 corners are getting blocked with darkness. You have to corp the snap..

Well made but when looking at it head on it doesn't look entirely symmetrical. Not a problem just a tiny bit off. Also I thought it was larger but it has proven to work well on a cannon camcorder with a step-up adapter ring. I would like to find something along the lines that a G40 uses mostly for aesthetic reason.

Fits perfectly on my Nikon d3100. Got it on a major discount. Fast shipping.

This is a basic, can't go wrong, light weigh lens hood. It goes on and off the lens very easily, is durable and does its job.A basic tip for ALL LENS HOODS: when using my built in camera with certain lenses, the hood will create a very visible, unwanted shadow on the image. Be very careful to check a test image well for this shadow. You don't want to discover it after you've left the shoot and it's too late!

This item only really works with longer focal lengths. You will see extreme vignetting (black in the corners) at shorter lengths. This wouldn't be so bad if it weren't just two of the corners. If its two, it might as well be four. After using this product, I took it off and didn't even put it in my bag. In the very few cases I have sun hitting my lens, I just hold my hand out of frame to shield the lens from the light. You can fiddle with this hood to spin the longer portions of the hood to but parallel to the landscape, but I find this is more trouble than its worth. As soon as you adjust the focus ring, you will probably need to adjust the hood again. The only 52mm mount I own is on my 18-55mm nikkor, and I would say you get vignetting at about 40mm unless you adjust the hood. Again, I am rating this item on the lens I have. If you have a fixed 70+mm lens, you may forget you have it on.

I received this lens hood to replace the stock Nikon hood on my Nikkor 35mm f1.8 lens. When i got it, I was surprised to find that it felt better built than the stock hood. It screws on the front of the lens like a filter would, and has a ring clamp to hold the hood on. On the front of the hood, there are another set of threads so that you can relocate any filter(s) you might have on the front of your lens. This hood works and fits on any 52mm lens with filter threads. Great product!

After reading several bad reviews about many 3rd party petal lens hoods, I decided to try my luck with this one since it was cheap and I had almost nothing to lose. I purchased this for my Nikkor 35mm f/1.8 because I hate how the round lens hoods that are provided look. This thing works great though! It just screws into the front of the lens, and you're done! It fits very snug, and you can even put your lens cap on without having to remove the hood, despite some other reviews. There is no vignetting at 35mm with this hood. If you need a hood for your 35mm lens, I cannot recommend this enough :)

This lens hood fit perfectly on my Nikon 50mm f/1.8 lens.Screws on firm and easy and is removed just as easy. There is an alignment mark on the hood to line up with center marks lenses.Be careful if the lens you are getting this for rotates at the end. The Nikon 18-55mm kit lens rotates at the front thus, the hood will rotate with it and be a little less effective (a rubber/round hood would be better in this case)

The Lens hood works great, and was easy to screw on but fair warning when you zoom all the way in the top part of the hood will show.. meaning your pictures will have black corners. Also once the lens hood is screwed on its on on. You have to unscrew it... though you can still put the lens cap on threw the hood but it seems a little rocky but I have spun it around with all my heart to try and see if it falls off and it doesnt. All in all I say its a good buy.But the corners in zoom shots is a problem.
