I have wanted to install a zero clearance insert for some time in my Dewalt saw when I happened across this one. The insert was easy to install and as the photos show, one slice down with the saw and the zero clearance is perfect. It should prevent tear out and small cut offs from dropping throiugh. Hooray! Did I mention there were two inserts provided so I have a spare hanging on the wall. Overall, very pleased with the quality, fit, and function of the product.

The Carve Tech Zero Clearance insert fit perfectly to replace the original two piece insert on my Dewalt DWS780 miter saw. The inserts are made from high density fiberboard and the build quality is excellent. I expected to have to shim it up flush to the deck of the saw, but didn't need to.I use my miter saw a lot when cutting furniture components and having perfectly clean cuts with no chipping is important, especially when cutting veneer or melamine coated plywood. This is a big improvement over the stock two piece plate and leaves a fine sharp finished cut with no chipping. I'll have to remove it for making compound cuts, but it takes just a couple minutes to swap the OEM inserts back in.This is a good value for a pair of perfectly machined inserts.

If you ever used a powered miter saw, you know how frustrating it can be to have “tear out” on the back side of your cut material. Even more frustrating is to have the small cutoffs fall into the gap where they patiently wait for an opportunity to “escape” and slap you in the face! 😊 These zero clearance inserts solve both of those problems. The first thing you will need is a Torx T20 screwdriver to remove the installed insert. A drill driver will not be able to reach into the cramped space. And once you remove the old insert, you have the perfect opportunity to clean out all the debris that you may, or may not have known was lurking within. After installing one of the two inserts, I was surprised to discover that it sat a little “proud” of the miter saw base. If you are a woodworker you know that if you can feel a difference, there is a difference, and my fingers could feel a ridge around the edge of the insert, even if I don’t have a tool to measure it. I could have hunted for some shims to make an exact measurement but I estimate that these inserts sit about 1/32-inch above the manufacturers version; not a deal breaker, just a concern. For framing, sitting slightly proud of the saw base should not be a problem. I am more concerned that the material will not be tolerant of moisture, either from the job site or from the material, especially treated lumber and we all know how nasty that stuff can be.Cabinet makers may be more hesitant to accept anything that is not flush. I don’t think it will be a problem for me and if I discover that it is, I simply will thin the insert by sanding or planing it and trying again.I really like that these inserts are made in the USA. The inserts appear to be made well, despite being a bit thicker than my original inserts. The mounting holes align perfectly with my original insert and the recesses allow the mounting bolts to sit below the surface, as they should. All that remains to be seen is if these inserts can withstand the abuse of extensive use. I look forward to learning the answer.

I use the DWS780 for all aspects of construction. I install speciality blades in order to get higher quality results when cutting baseboard and other trim.I ordered the 2-pack of Carve Tech zero clearance inserts to increase the quality of the baseboard and trim cuts.Using a zero clearance inserts does help in reducing tear out.Having a 2-pack allows for the pairing of a zero clearance inserts to specific blades. They fit perfectly in my DWS780.I recommend the 2-pack Carve Tech Zero Clearance Inserts.

Quality product here. I'm still not sure if I'll use them. I'll have to research it to figure out an answer, so I'm hesitating removing the default plastic device. I feel like it is what it is for a reason.

I messed up and ordered these for my DW708 DeWalt miter saw, and noticed too late that I had misread the website description, which showed it fit the DW780! OOPS! In spite of that, upon arrival, it was obvious that these were carefully cut to size, and the screw holes beautifully countersunk into the dense composite/particle board. Quality all the way. These are a GREAT addition to your miter saw, especially if you make a lot of thin cuts. It's frustrating having to dig small cut pieces of wood out of the channel below the saw kerf! Now to look for the correct one!

These are a perfect fit and do a great job as a zero clearance insert. I like having a two pack as well as it works well for supporting more then one blade. Overall a great product would buy in future.
