If you have a current set of Zipp wheels, they'll come with the new 188 rear hub. It's the one with the preload collar on the left side. Of course, they are available to fit Shimano/SRAM or Campagnolo, but we don't think your initial choice of freehub body design should lock you into a component group for the life of your wheels. This is why we're offering loose Zipp 188 Freehub Bodies. This way, you're free to choose what components you run on your bike since the freehub bodies are so easy to replace. This body is specific to the 188 hub. If you have the previous Zipp rear hub iteration, the Zipp 182, you need a different body, which we also sell. The 188s have a larger axle diameter. The 188, so named for the weight, is held together with a 2mm pinch bolt that goes into the preload collar on the non-drive side of the hub. Loosen that, and you can pull the axle out from the right side. With the axle out, you can easily pull out the cassette body. Make sure to catch the .25mm washer that goes between the body and hub shell. Zipp makes both Campagnolo-splined and Shimano/SRAM-splined freehub bodies for the 188 hub shell. The .25 mm spacer goes between the body and hub shell in both Campy and Shimano-SRAM. If you are running Campagnolo 11-speed cassette, Zipp recommends putting a second .25mm spacer between the body and hub shell.

Nice OEM replacement part with spacers for a Zipp 303 rebuild. Zipp has started shipping this with a rubber band around the cogs which keeps them together for easier installation. Great to be able to secure this part on Amazon.

Genuine item, easy install and cleared up my issue with freehub getting a bit of stickiness and causing chain slap. A tad more cost then changing the bearings out on existing freehub body, but way less aggravation.

Less than three months and one of the bearings is ruined. Not sure what to get now?

Cross threaded my freehub with my cassette lock ring only 2 nights before a cyclocross race. Only place to go was Amazon - at 21:30 on Thursday night I ordered the part and before 18:30 on Friday night it was delivered. Can fit it for tomorrow’s race now. 5 stars for delivery. I’m sure the part will be good too. Thanks Amazon!

Squeaked and creaked. Zipp told my shop mechanic I needed a new axle for this free hub despite owning 2013 V8 188 wheels...no mention of this in the instructional videos or packaging. Avoid.

Before purchase this hub, visit the Zipp web site to make sure your wheel is upgradable. Only wheel made after 2012 is upgradable. It took me all of 30 minutes to do this upgrade, and it fit so well like comes from the manufacturer itself. You will need a 2mm hex key and some bicycle grease. There are several instruction pages and videos on the web showing how to do this, so I won't describe it here. I upgraded my Zipp 101 wheel and only needed a slight re-dish for 11 speed!
