This is an awesome inexpensive way to replace an old floppy drive in a vintage computer. I have an old Gateway P5-120 (circa 1996) that I needed to reinstall Windows 98 on. This computer needs to start from a boot floppy, but I had no floppy disks and was not interested in sourcing any. I found the boot disk image online and imaged it to one of the floppy slots on the Gotek. Worked beautifully. Wonderful device!!

The device worked great, helped bring my outdated floppy drive in my keyboard to modern standards. My update was for Korg Karma Music Workstation. Followed some tutorials on how to install the emulator it works great. I used a third party software for formating the thumb drive and was able to get 100 partitions on the thumb stick. Everything works and as far as the keyboard is concerned it emulates perfectly. Reads and writes great but without floppy drive failures and funny drive noise. Attached are some pictures before and after installation. I love this product I'm very pleased and highly recommend it.

Bought three of these widgets to retrofit Yamaha Clavinova digital pianos. They look cool and work OK. The included software is supposed to be able to partition a large USB drive into a skadillion floppy sized partitions. Yeah, well, my Masters Degree apparently wasn't enough to get more than one partition to work on the Clavinova. I think this floppy replacement drive is a great price and easy to install. It fits right in the floppy slot. Just bolt it in and connect the cables and you are up and running. Good product. I recommend it.

Software provided doesn't work or allow you to see more than the first 1.4Mb of the "100" floppy disks partitioned locations. I Installed in my Korg Karma. Mounted well, works but NOT as advertised or as expected. Scouring the web I found no way to access the other 99 partitions to load data. I would NOT recommend unless you only plan to use the first partition.UPDATE - Found software from a different manufacturer that works! Now the emulator works as advertised and I can access ALL 100 partitions. I have it installed in my Korg Karma. Goodbye to floppies. I am absolutely happy with this device. I am using it in an old JVF 2010-A LED Marque sign from 1994 and it works great. It is so nice to not have to listen to it read from a floppy disk.I am not so happy with the seller. The CD ROM that shipped with this was completely unreadable. I contacted the seller and they ignored me completely. The good news was the disk is useless anyway. For truly useful information about this device google the words: Goughs, review, Gotek.For me it is replacing a 1.44MB floppy drive. I don't know if it will work for other density drives. The vendor sells different models for different floppy types.Note, given that it uses modern USB Flash drives, I was under the mistaken impression that it would be faster than the original floppy. But as I understand it, the floppy drive controller in your device actually does the timing for the floppy disk. As such, this device can't be any faster than a floppy drive. I don't know this for sure, but that is the impression I got from my reading.

The positioning of the USB port was slightly askew, but it appears to work OK. Very prompt shipping.

Aufgrund der etwas spärlichen Dokumention war ich erstmal skeptisch was den Einbau anging.Nachdem ich alles fertig habe, bin ich aber sehr zufrieden mit der Funktion; was ich damit alles anstellen kann, muss ich aber nach und nach ausprobieren.Nachtrag: Das Studium der Dokumente auf der CD ergab für mich die Erkenntnis, daß man zwei Emulatoren braucht, um die volle Funtionalität zu nutzen: 1x im Keyboard und 1x im PC.Nur mit den Tasten auf dem Emulator kann man eine der bis zu 99 Partitionen (jeweils eine Diskettengrösse) wählen, die gelesen, bzw. beschrieben werden sollen.Nachfolgend eine Einbauanleitung für diejenigen, die auch ein altes Tyros-Keyboard haben und auf USB-Stick umsteigen möchten.Der Einbau in ein Yamaha Tyros I Keybord erfolgt folgendermaßen:Mechanische/Elektrische Arbeiten (Keyboard vom Netz getrennt und alle Kabel abgesteckt)1. Keybord mit der Vorderseite auf eine weiche Unterlage auf einen Tisch legen.2. Alle schwarzen Schrauben im Umfang herausschrauben, danach alle goldenen Schrauben.3. Die Blechdeckel links und rechts abnehmen, nachdem die Schrauben herausgedreht wurden.4. Auf der linken Seite den Multikontaktstecker herausziehen und den DC-Schlauss (zweiadriges Kabel) abziehen.5. Auf der rechten Seite das Flachkabel rechts vorsichtig aus dem Sockel ziehen (es muss später genauso wieder in den Sockel eingeführt werden) und den vierpoligen Stecker daneben abziehen.6. Das gesamte Keyboard vorsichtig wieder auf die Füße stellen.7. Das Oberteil hochheben, nach vorn ziehen, um von den Tasten frei zu kommen, und das Vorderteil hochklappen. Das gesamte Oberteil auf seite Rückseite hinter das Unterteil stellen.8. Auf der rechten Seite können jetzt die Schrauben der Floppy-Laufwerk-Halterung heraus gedreht werden.9. Den 34-poligen Flackkabelstecker und den Stecker der Stromversorgung am FD vorsichtig abziehen.10. FD mit Halterung herausnehmen und die Schrauben lösen.11. Die FD-Halterung mit den mitgelieferten Blechschrauben an das SFR1M44-U100K schrauben (nur wenig Kraft verwenden, damit die Schrauben im Plastik nicht durchdrehen).12. Den FD-USB Emulator mit der Halterung einsetzen und festschrauben.13. a) Flachkabel und b) Stromversorgungsstecker anstecken, b) sehr vorsichtig, da die Pins der Platine leicht verbiegen.14. Das Keybord-Oberteil wieder auf das Unterteil legen, die Kabel links und rechts, zum Unterteil durchstecken.15. Vorderkante wieder unter die Tasten fädeln und nach Ober- und Unterteil wieder aufeinander passen, das gesamt Keyboard wieder auf den Kopf legen.16. die durchgesteckten Kabel wieder anstecken und die Blechdeckel verschrauben.17. Alle Schrauben wieder mit Gefühl anziehen.Inbetriebnahme des FD-USB-Emulators1. Keybord wieder verkabeln.2. Wenn man das Keyboard einschaltet und versucht auf das FD zuzugreifen, erscheint nach einiger Zeit die Meldung "Diskettenfehler". Nach erneutem Einschalten des Keyboards ist das FD nicht mehr vorhanden. Tyros wieder ausschalten.3. Leeren USB-Stick in den Emulator stecken, beide Taster gedrückt halten und Tyros einschalten. Taster gedrückt halten, bis der Emulator beginnt, von 000 bis 999 hochzuzählen; danach geht die Anzeige wieder auf 000 und der USB-Stick ist als FD formatiert.4. Tyros aus und wieder einschalten. Jetzt wird wieder ein FD als Speicherort erkannt.5. Der Stick kann abgezogen und im PC aufgerufen werden. Er meldet sich als Floppy-Laufwerk.6. Die Dateien und Verzeichnisse, die mit dem PC auf den Stick geschrieben werden, können jetzt ohne Probleme vom Tyros gelesen werden. Alle Dateioperationen sind möglich.7. Nachtrag: Mit dem Format Tool der Fa. IPCAS kann man bis zu 100 Disketten auf dem Stick erzeugen und einzeln Inhalte hochladen. Das Tool für den Emulator V2 kann auf der Ipcas-Seite heruntergeladen werden. Mit den Tasten auf dem Emulator kann man eine der bis zu 100 (0-99) Partitionen (jeweils eine Diskettengroesse) anwählen, die gelesen, bzw. beschrieben werden sollen.Viel Spass.

Der Artikel ist absolut O.K. Habe ihn in mein PSR-740 eingebaut und er funktionierte sofort ohne eine Änderung der Jumper vornehmen zu müssen. Die Lieferzeit ist allerdings wahrlich beträchtlich lange, Man hat laaaaaange Zeit sich darauf zu freuen. Wenn man allerdings bedenkt dass das Ding von China kommt und das Porto sage und schreibe lediglich 3 Euronen beträgt frage ich mich ernsthaft warum Deutsche Firmen 8 Euro und mehr verlangen. (Amazon ausgenommen). Wie gesagt Passt und ist um den Preis ein Renner.
