I was using this for my bearded Dragon and a after research found that calcium sand is the worst kind of sand you can put them on! Any particulate substrate can cause impaction for a bearded dragon or Gecko Which can be fatal, Because this is finer has calcium in it they are more likely to ingest it.I had my bearded Dragon on this unknowingly and ended up with the vet bill for his impaction. The vet specifically asked if I was keeping him on sand and said not to.Some people say they have kept the reptiles on sand and it's fine for them but I wouldn't risk it.I have found that duck brand Nonadhesive shelf liner works really nicely. It looks great and is easy to clean.
