About this item

  • Choosing the right equipment for your projects plays a significant role in the quality of your work. With band saws it is equally important to choose the right parts and accessories to make your machine run smoothly and without issue. Whether you’re a carpenter, contractor or even a skilled craftsman, your band saw is one machine that you need to run smooth and true.
  • From improved performance and safety to reduced downtime, urethane band saw tires provide many advantages over factory tires and rubber or plastic replacement tires. Urethane band saw tires most certainly outlast rubber band saw tires and plastic band saw tires. Urethane band saw tires will not dry rot like rubber or plastic tires.
  • This alone provides you with an exceptional value over other types of band saw tires. Another advantage of urethane tires over rubber is that no adhesive is needed for proper installation. Urethane tires can be stretched to fit and are specifically designed to stay in place without any type of adhesive. This makes these tires even easier to install and even easier to remove if necessary.
  • Whether you’re setting up a new saw or replacing the tires on an old saw, the urethane tire installation process is quicker and easier for increased productivity and efficiency. All of this improves blade tracking and extends the life of your blade. Not only that, the tires are bright orange, which makes them super easy to inspect and they come with a lifetime warranty on the welds.
  • This is a two tire set of Quality Urethane Band Saw Tires 18″ diameter x 1 1/2″ wide x .125″. They are designed to be installed on any 18″ band saw that requires a 1 1/2″ wide tire. The actual wheel diameter can be 17 1/2″ to 18 1/2″ in diameter. Made in the USA and can be trimmed to fit if needed.

I bought these for my 18" Jet and first tried, unsuccessfully, to install them by hand and using a vise as suggested in the manufacturer's video. I then noticed a link to an easy-to-make installation and that method worked easily the first time.

Powermatic 18 inch bandsaw. Replaced upper wheel a couple of years ago and still running great. Lower wheel with original tire finally broke and replaced with this product. Forgot how tuff it was to install on wheel but fits perfectly once installed. Ordered this tire again as a spare.

These are all the same, so I went with the best price. Arrived on time. They go on easily if you use the drill and dowel trick (search YouTube).

I had installed a polyurethane tire on my band saw a few years ago. It failed a few weeks ago. These tires were the right size and I was able to install without any problems using prescribed procedure (immerse in hot water, etc. etc.) Seems to be working fine so far.

My 18 inch bandsaw rubber tires finally became less elastic and started getting loose on their wheels and almost came off while running, which was kinda scary. These are a different material than rubber, but once you get them on, they work well. They are hard to get on for a reason. They need to be very tight on the wheel to be safe and secure. You do not need to heat them in water and it is recommended that you don't because that can damage or weaken them. The easiest way to install is to take the wheel off the bandsaw and install 2 dowels on a board on a workbench. The first dowel is for the wheel to rotate on. The second dowel is just outside the outer diameter of the wheel and you use that dowel to force the tire onto the wheel by rotating the wheel. Still takes some strength, but it's not that hard and these tires can take the punishment well. Just look for the youtube videos that show this method.

Actual install of the tires was maybe 2-3 minutes per wheel.I took the wheels off the band saw. Top wheel came right off, one nut. Bottom wheel, after removing the nut, needed some gentle prying with a wonder bar, the bottom wheel is keyed on the spindle, so it takes a little more finesse to get it off.most of the time was spent removing the wheels, cleaning the wheels, and removing the old tires and adhesive (wasn't difficult, cleaned remaining adhesive with acetone), and vacuuming the sawdust.Install was easy. Video shows using a vise to hold the wheel. I used the vice when cleaning the wheels but didn't use a vice to install the new tires.I did stand on the tire, making sure to have the weld under the balls of my foot, then pulled upward in an effort to stretch the tire. Not sure if this made any difference in putting the tire on, but thought I would mention it.1st spring clamp to contain the tire at the tire weld location. Wrapped tire 1/2 way around the wheel, pulling to keep it taught, and added another spring clamp, (as in video).I put the wheel with the partially installed tire on the floor. Standing in one of the openings of the wheel, I pulled up on the tire and worked it onto the wheel, one portion at a time. It wasn't very difficult, but does take some effort. Watch your fingers.I was surprised how easy it was. I was expecting a lot more difficulty after reading reviews about soaking the tires in hot water, etc. Note, tires were at ambient temperature of approximately 75 degrees. If the tires fail, I will update this review. For now 5 stars!

Excellent value compared to others I found and it seems to be a quality part.I installed this on the Jet jwbs-18 this afternoon. I could not install it until I made the jig that is on the video. I wish I had looked at the video sooner. I struggled for 30 minutes, even soaking in hot water as others had done without success. I am 65 years old and think I'm in pretty good shape but I just didn't have the strength to bull this on. I was ready to concede defeat. Finally watched the video for 3 minutes. Another 5 to create the jig from scraps and maybe 1 minute to install. Sheesh, wish I had known! I did remove the wheel which turned out to be simple. One reverse thread nut to remove. My Jet is back in operation.

As many others have said, these belts can be very difficult to install. My first effort was to leave the wheel in the saw, but that made it almost impossible. I then put the wheel in a woodworking vise and clamped it in two places as their video shows. It was still tough, but with the help of a screwdriver for a lever, I installed the tire.I then installed the second one and learned that for me, the positioning is important. When the wheel is in the vise, make sure you have the loose loop of belt toward the workbench (opposite) side so you can pull up and toward you. I tried the other way—pulling up and out (away from me) and I could not do it. But I'm 76 years old, so you may have better luck.If you've ever changed a bicycle tire, you'll quickly see that the procedure is much the same. My band saw is now smooth and quiet.

Installed one of these on the top wheel of my band saw. Installation requires some effort to clamp and use screwdrivers to stretch the band around the wheel. It took me about 30 minutes to get it on after a few fails. But once on, the fit well and so far are doing the job. I did notice these bands were thinner than the OEM band that I replaced. This may not mean anything, just an observation.
