Predrilled the hole and it still broke. Now there’s a real problem

The downside to these types of string retainers is that they can be too tall, and what would normally be an easy operation to cut down the bushing used to adjust the height of the retainer becomes a longer operation of sanding/grinding/filing down the bottom to get the angle lower. That said, your break angle might be fine as-is with these, so it depends on your situation, and it's really dependent on the style of string retainer, not these particular ones.

Purchased for a guitar (Indonesian Squire) I did for an auction. They worked well, although on the tall side. String spacing lined up great.

These were easy to install but a little cheaply made. But for the price they work. Both are the same height.

The screws are tiny. Don't use them. Use the old ones. Duh. Not sure why others here had a problem with that. It's kinda obvious when you put the old ones off and you're looking at everything. Some poor kid broke one off in the headstock. Don't be like Timmy. Another guy complained about the rollers not being independent. ie, not rolling in different directions at the same time. I had to think about that one for a half a second before I realized that in twenty years of playing, I've never been so talented to get one string pulling one a string tree while another string is relaxing. You'd have to be bending and "unbending" two different strings at the same time. Can't think of a single song where that's been done. Keep and eye on that guy. (Musical-genius in the making.) They're fine. They work fine. The fit it a little off but not enough to matter and they're WAY better than whatever you're pulling off your Squier.

This works okay, but the screws included are not sufficient in length and so small in diameter that they wouldn't hold the tension the product will deal with. I had to buy some larger #4 screws a bit longer in length to make this functional. The screws that come with it barely make it through the base and wouldn't provide a secure way to fasten it. In a hardwood neck, it is necessary to drill a pilot hole, so keep that in mind before trying to install these.

Easy replacement of your guitar's old string tree - goes a long way toward keeping your guitar in tune.

I don't like the idea of occasionally having to oil the stock string tees as oil gathers dust and there's a lot of dust where I live. These made the affected strings tune more smoothly which means one less frustration on a very inexpensive guitar and it didn't cost a lot. This made those often necessary slight adjustments no problem. Now I'm much happier with the tuners on this guitar.
