This is much shorter and not nearly as heavy-duty and the ones you can buy at the hardware store. The stake is just 12 inches long. I was going to mount a garden hose reel to a post using this stake, but I am fairly certain that it will fall over after a couple of uses. Not the quality I was hoping for.

Worked perfectly for setting a post for our chicken coop without having to dig a hole. Easy to install and a good price

Solid post spike and just what I was looking for. This spike is shorter than some which is perfect for my use case as I'm not looking to support a large load. This made it easy to pound into the ground.

Provides a decent standoff /anchor for non-load bearing applications like fences or maybe even a mailbox. Personally, I wouldn't use this on a porch and definitely not a deck as the depth and narrowness of the anchor still allows for wiggle and wobble if you try had enough. (i don't think code allows for this type of anchor for a deck. ) I used it for a fence corner post that the previous home owner add plopped directly in the ground and it worked okay for this application.

Needed to fix my mailbox and no longer have the ability to really dig or hammer into the ground. Got this and used a saoker hose for 1 hour to soften the ground. I then used a 2x4 to "push" this into the ground slowly. Making sure I had it leveled for the mailbox. Once you have it in, if you use the soaker hose trick, wait a couple days for the ground to dry and firm up around the post anchor. The anchor itself is made well and is very solid. Very easy to use.

This is a heavy, steel anchor, powder coated so it should be weatherproof. Place a 4x4 post (or a pair of 2x4s) in the square top and drive the point into the ground. The point is not long enough to hold a freestanding post but the real application would depend on additional structure to hold it side to side. For instance, I am using it as a middle point of a short fence and gate. The fence section is anchored to a wall and my 4x4 in the ground is a few feet away. Works fine.

I was very pleased when I unboxed this "4"x4" Fence Post Anchor Ground Spike." It is very well made. In fact, I would like to shake the hand of whomever welded the parts together. The welds are beautiful and perfect! This will make a great mailbox post anchor. The stake is 12-1/2" long, which may seem short, but the soil here is good-old southern clay which is like concrete. The accompanying instructions are short and sweet, so I would like to expand on them. The instructions suggest wetting the ground to make it easier to drive the stake into the ground. I would suggest that you decide where you want to place this ground anchor, and push or pound a round, slender spike into the ground where the stake will go in. Think of an old screwdriver or some other similarly shaped rod into the ground. Don't go too far without pivoting the rod a bit to slightly enlarge the hole and keep it from getting stuck. Once you have gone perhaps 8 to 10 inches deep, you want to fill the resulting hole with water. Let it soak in, and do it again. Do this several more times. I let it sit overnight and then added water one more time so the ground became more saturated with water. Then, I inserted a scrap piece of 4X4 post into the square post holder and pounded the spike into the ground. Just try to keep the spike straight up, plumb, so your mailbox post does not lean one way or the other. Screws are included so you can affix the stake to the 4x4 mailbox post. Overall, this is a great value for the price, and it worked very well for me.

Needed something to hold a lightweight hose reel that I wanted for my home (in my case a 58 ft long, 1/2” hose). The spike it was pretty sturdy as I didn't feel any type of bending or flexing. Didn't feel any bending or flexing either when I was driving it into the ground using 1 fooot section of 4x4 and a sledgehammer. This product also comes with respective screws that you drive into the holes of the supporting socket. Probably not the best screws I've seen but they do the job for a lightweight job like mine. When I drove my 4x4 post with this product into topsoil and clay, you can sort of vibrate it around but it still stays very supportive and holds the hose very well.I will admit it's not as stiff and vibration-free if you were using concrete, but this is more than enough to hold a lightweight hose reel. It might be even more stable or if I used a post less than six and a half feet. However I really wouldn't trust this if you're driving into sand or gravel.Overall this was a quick and easy way of setting up my reel without having to deal with concrete or any digging as this really just took me less than 3 minutes using a sledgehammer and a post leveler.
