It seems like a solid choice for a beginner but the Lyre I received has a pretty significant crack in it. I might be green with lyres and out of practice tuning instruments in general but I can tell it's messing with the tuning on the strings a little bit. I really like it in spite of this fact but wish this crack didn't exist, then it would be a solid 5 stars.

The only downside is that it has a strong smell of varnish. A suggestion of mine is to have a sheet to the different notes and tunings this instrument has! Other than that I love it! It came with extra strings, a tuning tool, and a nice bag for the lyre!
