To my surprise, you can't just pick one of these up and get that nifty twangy sound from it. I couldn't get any sound of significance from it, but we set the kids up with some instructional Youtube videos. Now one of my daughters is ready to join a band. When done right, it is clear, but not too loud. The construction of the device is all metal and seems of good quality. All and all, it has been a lot of fun and educational for my children.

I was not expecting much from this jaw harp when I saw how small it is. I've taken photos to show it's size, and included another one of my harps that I would consider to be a more traditional size. When I tried it, even though it was small, it made a good sound. I was pleasantly surprised.I'm not sure why it comes tide to a block of wood with a hole in it by a length of jute, but it does. Why not five stars? Well, the harp looked like it had tarnishing from manufacturing on it. This is bad for something you put in your mouth to play.I was able to clean it somewhat, but without sanding and polishing I'm not sure how clean you could get it.Decent sound, very compact, kind of grody.

This thing is tiny, and is not suitable for an adult to play. It's more for children or just as a decoration. Also, the metal is raw and unfinished copper. It smells like old pennies mixed with sweat. It is disgusting. No amount of washing was able to get that smell or taste off.The "carrying case" that it claimed to come with was NOT a carrying case at all, it was just a block of wood with a hole in it.Complete disappointment. Absolutely would NOT recommend.

I was excited to get this because I've wanted one for awhile! It came shrink-wrapped, sitting on a block of wood and tied with a cord. It looked great! When I removed it from the wrap, I realized that the "case" the listing said was included is actually more a "stand" or "display" - it's simply a block of wood with a hole drilled through it for the bent-out pluck piece (obviously I have no education about these things, so forgive my terminology). The harp is held to this block of wood by wrapping the cord around both.It is a very simple thing, but clever. The harp itself should work, but it's "Treble Clef" size is basically a little too small for the average adult mouth. A person must have a very small mouth with thin lips to hold this properly and get any sound from it without muting the plucker or getting the whole harp in the mouth.I was able to (very carefully) get sound from it, so it does work ... but this ought to be aimed at children. My final concern is that this mysterious metal sitting on some kind of wood block that has been treated with some kind of chemical and then wrapped in some kind of cord does eventually need to sit partially in your mouth. Even after a gentle cleaning, the taste is like a copper flavor mixed with wood varnish. This is a great novelty, kids will enjoy it, adults with tiny mouths will enjoy it, and it is inexpensive.

It is made well (recommend cleaning before use though.. it seemed to have the metallic dark powder on it on to my hands) but no instructions so I looked up a few videos online. It is not hard to play but takes work to sound good... lol.. so I won't be recording myself for a LONG time. And is small, easy to carry and fun!

The item received looks exactly like the advertisement. They show the dimensions and closeup of what you are purchasing.Pros:+ InexpensiveCons:- there are no instructions whatsoever so you'll have to turn to social media, library, or someone who knows what they are doing to figure this thing out. My teeth were not happy- it's really small- the products as delivered was not well finished especially given you are supposed to put this thing on your lips- the "handmade carrying case" appears little more than a split 2x4 which looks like they hit it with a propane torch and branded a treble clef after drilling two holes. The "carrying" part is some twine.I was a little disappointed in that I felt like the product was too small, factory dirty/unfinished as delivered, and came with a throw in case that look liked it was made in a wood shop by middle schoolers. Maybe that is part of the look/vibe.Not thrilled with the purchase.
