I bought these instead of balloons for the death anniversary of my son as is my custom twice a year for his birthday and death date. I should have stuck to the balloons. Members of my church were all excited to help me and I'm glad they were there. I followed directions to a T. They were catching on fire before they would even go up, start flipping upside down, and then rotate and crash to the ground on fire. I got 3 out of the whole pack to work. And even those caught fire before they eventually arose. I've done lantern releases numerous times and it was not windy for these to not function. I made sure the directions were steep by step to avoid issues like this. I do not recommend unless you can make sure you have a fire department on standby and are prepared to be treated for burns. I've never had this happen worth any other brands of the exact product.

My first time buying or using. They all floated into the sky as they should, except for one that I accidentally burned holes in while attempting to launch.

To open the balloon area up, you have to peel it apart. But the paper material was so light/fragile that it was impossible to peel some of them apart without tearing and ruining the lantern. However, for the one's that didn't tear, they flew a long time because the fuel source lasted much longer than different one's I purchased.
