It's a nice mix of silica - which is a drying material (those little packets that are in the bottles of medication are silica). The carbon is great for both drying and also absorbing smell. These are a great way to keep pet food fresh. Its use is not limited to pet food. I ordered these to put in storage bags for linen.

I put these in my petlibro autofeeder, they fit well. I can't really say if they're doing a ton for keeping the kibble dryer or fresher, but I feel better with them in there ensuring the food doesn't get moldy. They _are_ kind of expensive for what they are, so I change them out once a month instead of every 2 weeks as recommended. Haven't had any problems. They come "sealed" in individual small zip-top baggies but the baggies are very cheap quality so I doubt they're doing much more than keeping the desiccant packets clean.
