I am very impressed with this bit. And up front; I used this bit in a hand held router (wouldn’t know one end of a CNC machine from another). When it comes to choosing “up” “down” or “compression” cuts I will go with the compression cut nearly every time. Typically the result I get is a very smooth, clean cut that needs little or no prep before the next step. That was certainly the case with this compression bit. This bit felt like it was floating when I made a couple of trial cuts across a pine 2 x 4, a pleasant, almost liquid flow. Very nice! And as you can see in the pics, it made a very clean cut with no notable roughness anywhere. This tells me not only is the bit well made but that it is supremely sharp.Oddly, I could not find particulars on the product description page about the material from which this bit is made. That seems a bit strange as most manufacturers boast about the material and durability of their tools up front. I would feel more confident about the durability of this bit if I had particulars about the metals used to make it. One trusts that a bit recommended for CNC work is tough stuff and built to last, but I don’t know that in this case. Just something to consider.The price seems very reasonable for such a well made tool.In my opinion this appears to be an excellent compression bit that does an exceptional job of making a beautiful cut. I’m very pleased to own one!I heartily recommend it!

I used this bit pretty heavily over the last couple of days on some birch plywood and oak projects. It cut well with good bottom and top edges to the cut as well as the overall cut surface.

Has a nice clean cut. I needed a quarter-inch bit. It is excellent in material removal. I thought the price was more reasonable than others that I have seen with the same quality.

I put this bit in fresh to cut a project i had designed on my CNC to cut out of some solid pine wood, and due to a mistake i made, the drill bit drove nearly 1/2 inch into my material and punched sideways and this bit didn't hesitate. It DID generate some smoke, but that was my own fault since there's no way any bit could have kept up with that punshment. That being said, the bit didn't snap like others might have and the flutes seem to still be sharp enough once i got the settings in my design dialed in properly. The compression flutes perform well at preventing tear out from both the top and bottom of the materials i am cutting through, which can be hard on pine. I'm happy with this bit for the value it provides against some of the higher priced competing brand bits.

So in my continuing exploration of different CNC router bits I've found a downside to both downcut and upcut bits. They have their purposes, but one depresses chips and can burn the bits out, and the other often leaves a frayed and splintered top. This, well, cuts back on both of those. The bit itself is VERY well made, and between the structure and metal itself will last MUCH longer than either. Very, very sharp, and expertly crafted. Highly functional for most possible uses, and while it may seem more expensive at first, you have to judge that against have substantially lower quality cuts on cheaper bits that you'll have to replace frequently. REALLY REALLY WELL DONE...

I love these solid carbide bits for durability and sharpness. They provide great detail in my handheld routers for carving or pattern tracing (with a bushing).

Although this bit is aimed at CNC users, the listing states it is also for hand held routers. However, the flutes on the bit I received are cut for counterclockwise rotation (when viewed from above), so don't deliver acceptable cuts when rotated counterclockwise. Attempting to cut a dado in oak ply resulted in burning and extreme tearout. All my routers, and I suspect most others, rotate only clockwise. So unless you have a reversible router motor, the bit is unusable except in CNC applications. Otherwise, I'm sure it's a fine bit. If I'm missing something here, please advise and I will edit or delete this review.

Pretty sharp out of the box and machined nicely. Conveniently packaged in a small plastic case with a twist-off cap. Haven't used it yet but I'm sure it will work just fine in my router.
