I did not expect these boards to perform nearly as well as they did. I measured a forward voltage drop of 23mV at 5V and 1A, and a backflow current (into the output terminal) of 14 uA with 12.5V applied to the output and a 1 Ohm resistor across input. The reverse current across the input resistor was 220 nA. These boards seem well suited for battery charging circuits.

I use a solar panel to run a Raspberry Pi and needed to keep the battery from feeding back into the charger when there was no sunlight. I didn't like the losses caused by the voltage drop from a Shockley diode. This solved that problem.Every picture of this device both on Amazon and eBay have the control chip's ID covered up. I see no reason to have the chips have been obscured in photos. The control chip is a Linear Technology (now Analog Devices) LTC4412 (labeled LTA2). It controls two Alpha & Omega Semiconductor's AOD4185 P-Channel MOSFETs. Along with two capacitors, this is everything on the board.The only thing I don't like about this board is the price.

I have used it in a charging circuit up to 13A continuous, at ambient temperature, to charge 3.65V 200 Ah LIFEPO4 cells. Voltage drop was on the order of 100s of mV, and temperature rise was comfortable to touch in air, no heatsink. Should work well as advertized in a solar application. Take care to account for the environment (allow some margin for high ambient temperatures, for instance). This is a small, low cost alternative. Well assembled.
