I received the trim strip in a coil. It had a flattened oval cross section and measuresd 7/16" wide (not quite 1/2" as labeled, however this was not a problem for me). The adhesive back was covered by a red protective plastic backing that was easily stipped off. The trim strip was easily cut with ordinary scissors.I tested the adhesion of the strip on aged painted steel (red), and bare metal (aluminum) to mimic typical auto surfaces.Because for any self-adhesive product application temperature is important, I did not test on my pickup truck today (outside temp was 23F). Tests were performed indoors with a surface temperature of 65F. Test surfaces were cleaned with spray glass cleaner to remove any grease or contaminants before adhering the strips. I tried both short straight lengths and longer curved lengths.The first tests with straight pieces at 65F had marginal adhesion. They did resist pressure from the side, but were fairly easily removed by peeling up from the ends. The adhesive left no residue. The adhesion to bare metal was slightly better than to the painted surface.The longer curved pieces did somewhat better at 65F. They weren't as easy to remove with side pressure because of more support from a longer length and greater area of adhesion. Peeling up from the ends, however was still fairly easy.To test whether higher temperature would make a difference, the panels were heated with a hair dryer to about 80F. Tests on both panel types showed a much better level of adhesion. The painted surface seemed to hold tighter this time than the metallic surface, but both seemed good with side pressure. Peeling from the ends of the strips was, as before, however easier than from the side.The degree of side curvature I was able to achieve with reasonable pressure, and still maintain adequate adhesion was roughly a 12" radius. In bending the strips I noticed that there was a thin plastic membrane over the outside. This was easily peeled off, leaving a very bright metallic shine. There are no instructions included with the strip, so this temporary removable protective membrane might be possible to miss.In conclusion, I think that in applying this product, it's important to carefully clean the surface to be applied to of oils, dirt and any oxidation. Adhesion is marginal at 65F or below. After applying, I would suggest warming the strips and panel with a hairdryer if temps are below 80F and re-applying pressure. Be careful not to overheat, and pay special attention to the ends of each strip -- since peeling endwise is more likely than from side pressure.I'm very pleased with the high metallic sheen of this particular strip after removing the protective film, and the ease of bending and cutting it. Care during application will be required to get adequate adhesion, and it will require an absolutely clean and un-oxidized surface, and adequate temperature if it is to stay in place over the long term. Particular care should be taken during application with the ends of the strips.

I used it to create things for my house

We got this trim to cover the roof seam area on our 2011 Buick Regal CXL. Somehow the black plastic cover from the factory became missing. This exposed the seam, the primer where the panels joined and where the top coat stopped. In short, it was ba-toogley!This trim has the standard automotive factory quality adhesive on the back. Once you place it, it stays there. Each section I needed to place was close to six feet in length. I had the wife hold the end and pull it straight inline with the seam, only removing an inch of the adhesive backing cover. One placed I was able to run my hand over the trim and with my other hand, peel away the protective cover from the adhesive strip.This seam is not flat all the way across, so I'm trusting the adhesive where it does touch flat metal will hold it in place. So far, so good. And it looks great. The trim piece for this car is not available so I had to go aftermarket, hence, this piece of trim. It works. It solved my problem. And the price is very good value.
