KJD17 120V 5-Pin 16A Electromagnetic Switch, Push Button Switch for Garden Tools, Power Tools and Machine Toolsthe lack of overall information on this item is a little not awesome. there are no installation instructions or spec sheet or anything that details how to use or operational factors. perhaps this is standard, but unless you are a qualified electrician or machine maker this may require some at least slight info to aid with use and isntallation. like for instance, i wanted to test function with a simple continuiity meter. complete circuit light on stop light off. it didnt work. i was like? hmm, did i get a dud. well not exactly, this apaprently after some research is a solenoid circuit. which means it has to have power on the hot side as well. i guess. and this engages a magnetic relay or something which keeps the on button engaged. but it didnt work exactly that way either. i found after more digging that you have to run a jumper from the smaller terminal to the nearest terminal. then it worked as expected. why this i do not know. also, when i pressed green after jumping the two pins it vibrated. i thought it did something wrong, but this is apparently the solenoid engaging. i think for what i had intended its use for it will work fine, but i would have appreciated some paperwork with the item to make life easier.

This is a neat motor contactor. This little unit can replace a contactor plus stop start pushbuttons. The fifth terminal can be used to connect a thermal overload for motors without internal thermal protection, or in my case to add a separate emergency stop pushbutton on the router table I'm building this winter. The switch can be tucked under the table where it's easy to use but out of the way, while the e-stop can be mounted where it's most likely to be needed.Using this switch simplifies motor control at a fraction of the cost of an enclosed contactor or motor starter with a control circuit, it's adaptable, and more compact.
