First of all this is not 1 inch, it's smaller which makes it impossible to use with a true 1 inch rubber ball on the other side of the mount. Secondly, it's metal, so the mount slips. Do NOT buy.

Rubber / plastic ball good for a better hold then just hard aluminum. Works well with aluminum clap.

Item received is not a rubber ball. It appears to be plastic. Will not work for ram mount clamps. Does not even resemble the picture which is a rubber ball on metal.

does not have a rubber surface to hold clamp. Ram Mount slides on this ball and is a nuisance. The ball is too slick to keep the RAM arm steady while riding down the road. I can make it work, but should have spent more for the real thing.Also, the collar is black, not chrome like the pictures. No big deal, but lets get it right.

Clamps won’t hold this securely because it is not rubber, in-fact the one I received appears anodizedfrom the top of the ball to the base, it is not like what is pictured

As some of the other reviews say this thing is aluminum and smooth and seems like the ball is smaller and the clamps don’t grip it at all . I have a can of flex seal in the garage and I put 4 layers on letting it dry between coats . It is working now but they should of really dipped this ball in rubber when they made it . How long will my fix on it last ? No idea . I bet Jeff sales flex seal on here too if you want to try.

The ram ball is good and the design is good too. The 3 hex bolts were all the same thread size, just different lengths.I have a 600cc Honda scooter and the threads didn't match . The hardware store had what I needed for $2. Pretty happy with it.
