The wall thickness makes this very rigid and sturdy. No concern of breakage. I have 4x3 downspouts so I trimmed out the inner connection to allow water to flow through a bit easier. The round outlet fits 4” Sch 40 PVC pipe perfectly. The fit is just right so it is easy to install. I have not had enough leaves yet to determine how easy to clean or how well the door functions. I will update if I experience any thing out of the normal. It does come with long screws that will make it easy to connect either downspout size. Only other question is how well it lasts with daily sun. Only time will tell on how UV resistant it is. I will update if I find an early failure.

I was skeptical about this downspout filter so a 2 pack makes a good test before replacing all 9 current connectors to underground pipes.I will install these on my new larger downspouts, just in time for the annual leaf avalanche The grate should leaves and twigs keeping them from clogging our underground drainage pipes popups, allowing water to flow through smoothly. The flexible cleanout design is nice. I can easily pop it open and clear out any stubborn debris without having to channel my inner gymnast on a ladder. Plus, it fits both my 2x3 and 3x4 downspouts, which is handy.I will have a better idea just how well they work after my gutters are replaced soon with larger black ones. These are well made I'm just trying to figure out if they will help or just add another maintenance chore to my list. My concern is how often they will need cleaned out. I'm really wondering if the water would still flow well if the sliding door is just removed allowing leaves etc to clear itself.

The product works but are awkward and unsightly as a result of being constructed to attach to both 3” and 4” downspouts when attached to the former size. They adequately catch debri and are easily accessed for its removal. Therefore, I recommend it for 4” downspouts only.

I have the larger 3" x 4" downspout and the problem with these is that the rim around the entrypoint for the gutter that allows for the adaption to the smaller size is a blocker for water coming down the spout. The result is a lot of splashing, which will cause the little door flap to fall off, and water can therefore pool around the gutter. This happens in heavy and sustained rains so really becomes a problem in those situations.

PathneerDownspout Filter, 2 Pack Gutter Downspout Screen, Leaf Eater Downspout FilterThe product: the Pathneer rain gutter downspout filter devices are well built and well thought out for 2x3" size downspout pipes and 4" in-ground drain pipes. The top opening of the filter device is JUST the right size that you can SQUEEZE a normal 2x3" down pipe into it, it is very snug but fits, which is great. The lower connector is perfect for a 4" black perforated pipe, although I had to cut the larger flange end off the perf pipe, which was fine. The thickness and quality of the plastic construction is great, and should stand up well.Installation: for existing fully sealed downspouts (from the gutter up top all the way down into the perf pipe in the ground) you will need to cut out up to 6" of straight pipe above the perf pipe and fit this in. In both cases I had to put up the ladder and totally disassemble the downspout all the way from the bottom up to the gutter, and lay it down on the ground to work on it. I found using my cut-off saw was like cutting butter and allowed me to keep shaving off whatever I needed. A hack saw or sawzall will do it, but I recommend a cutoff wheel. I literally just eye-balled how much I needed to cut off the bottom of the downspout and then just stuck it in the filter device, then just set the whole thing back up against the wall on top of the perf pipe. Don't be fooled, still takes a good 45 minutes to just tweak it all and get it right, and I was making up for the prior owner never actually fastening the pieces of pipe together. But just take your time and it will work great. Results: only time will tell. I know that I'm concerned that the box has a slanted plastic grid that does not stop even with the bottom of the side opening on the device, so that big lip is going to catch a lot of stuff. But I've seen really nice versions of these made of metal that I can't get installed for less than a couple $100's each, so these will be a great test to see if they suffice. If so, they'll be amazing bang for the buck.Would I recommend it? Based on installation and materials, absolutely. Based on how they filter? I need a couple more seasons to give a good opinion--but at this price point I'm willing to give them a shot for sure.

I do as much as I can to not have to spend hundreds of dollars on maintenance, especially on gutters. This makes things easier by filtering out debris at which point you can easily remove it. Combine these with gutter guards and you got a nice system.

I put these on all my downspouts and you would be surprised at all the leaves and debris that gets kicked out.

This let me tie in some of my downspouts into a 4" drain perfectly. As I have no trees over my roof I wasn't too worried about the leaves / filter, but one thing I had noticed in the past was the 4" drain not draining fast enough, as it also collects water from another source, and my gutter downspout was starting to back up a bit and overflow from around the connection point I had before. With this, any backup will simply overflow out of this connector and prevent any possible gutter issues.
