Does not fit under any fret/s jobs I’ve done. Must be for tiny frets.

Cheap and effective. They definitely helped with chip out. The trick is to go slow. I pushed one of them too fast and bent it

These work okay, nothing to brag about. I was able to fit them underneath the fret just fine, heat up with my soldering iron, and use my pullers to get the fret out. After five or six frets I'll still have an issue with chip out, so I stopped using this tool and managed to get all the other ones out much cleaner. So if anything this actually made it worse. I ended up bending it up pretty bad, as it is only thin piece of metal but managed to get it mostly back straight. Overall not super impressed, I'll keep them around in case I want to do another job with them but if I ever lost or broke them I can't say I would buy it again.

I wasn't able to get my fret removal pliers under my frets with this protector in place, so I didn't use the protector. Maybe these work with taller frets. Mine had been dressed down several times.

This is another example of the best solution may be a simple one. This really helps protect the fretboard when removing the old fret, thus reducing the chipping you may have experienced. This helps minimize the exposure to further damage you can cause during a delicate operation. They work great and are effective.

I’m working on an older (new to me) Harmony arch top. About half of the fret crowns were worn to point that I couldn’t play it. These chip plate protectors were used with fret pulling pliers from another AZN vendor. I was able to easily get under the crown, and slide the chip stopper plate under the slightly raised fret wire. Rock the pliers a little to raise the fret, advance the plate, move the pliers, etc. Easy work, there isn’t any visible damage to the fret board. If you don’t use something like these protector plates, your fret board will get damaged by the pliers.

I sharpened the open end. You can slide this in below the fret crown and slide across. Then lift from the rear and frets will come out clean. No pullers necessary. And no tear out as the open end is out ahead of you and already kept the grain in check.
