We camp a lot, and these have been a game-changer! Especially in the past few years when mosquito bites could have a much more serious impact if bitten. These are easy to wear, comfortable and incredibly lightweight. I noticed that I hadn't seen any mosquitoes near me the very first time I wore it, and made sure I had it on continually after that. There is no offensive order or residue, in fact I barely even noticed it while I had it on. I highly recommend these!

Purchase with caution, this product does work, but is fragile. the cartridgeinsert is easy to lose while trying to install. Also, the gold end fell off, and wouldnt go back on completely. A good purchase, just need to be careful.

We frequently use the disposable, stretchy mosquito repellant bands. These are a similar concept, but you reuse the band, and put small sticks of scented oil inside which can be changed out. The silicone material is comfortable against your skin. Upon the very first refill, I lost one of the tiny gold rings that go between the end cap and the bracelet. I don't think these needed to be separate - if it was just attached to either the band or the cap, it would be more difficult to lose. They really are tiny. It can also be kind of hard to insert the teeny tiny oil sticks. They smell quite nice (citronella, lemongrass, and geraniol oils). There are little packets included which each have two replacement sticks. You need two for each bracelet.I first wore these on a short mountain hike in Northern Utah where there weren't many bugs. I got a couple of mosquito bites but not too bad. I assumed at that point they worked similarly to other bands. However, this is VERY IMPORTANT. I then refilled these to use for camping in Southern Utah. I wore one bracelet on each hand. This is how I found out that these bracelets are powerful sand fly attractants. In less than 30 minutes outside, I got over SIXTY sand fly bites all over both of my wrists, literally all around the bands. I was the only one wearing the bands, and the only one who got attacked by sand flies (though everyone got several mosquito bites still). It is absolutely the worst I have been bitten by bugs in my life. It has been several days, and I am still miserable. Please be absolutely certain that there are no sand flies in the area you are outdoors in before putting on these bands!

So, it turns out that I am one of those people that mosquitos will track down in a crowd, and shower me with all of their attention while others around me are oblivious and wonder why I am swatting at the air. I am also one of those people who, when bitten, will see the bite swell up to the size of a quarter and then hang around, itching, for over a week. I presently have six mosquito bites on my arms and legs from last week.So I am definitely in the target demographic for this product. And, I am not going to go spraying poison on my body just to avoid the pain and discomfort of mosquito bites. So I was absolutely thrilled to find a product that employs a pleasant mix of natural nontoxic repellents to keep mosquitos away. The product is a flexible band (I got the 2 pack) that is bent into an open bracelet or anklet. At each end is a hollow compartment inside of the bracelet where you place a small, thin, scented cotton cylinder (a "core"). The scented cylinders actually smell quite nice, but apparently not to mosquitos. The bracelet has caps on each end that you screw on to hold the cylinder inside. When the caps are screwed on, the bracelet somehow allows the scent to diffuse out from the bracelet. You can smell it.When the cylinder has no more scent, you simply open another packet and put in a fresh new cylinder. However, before using a new cylinder, I simply turn around the existing cylinder assuming that the part that was deep inside the bracelet may still have more scent than the part that was closest to the opening. Each bracelet can hold two cylinders at a time (one at each end), but you may not need to use two cylinders at the same time, unless the mosquito situation is really bad.I wore the bracelet as an anklet (even though my ankles were too big) because I felt that while I can usually police my arms pretty well, while my legs and feet tend to go neglected (by me, not by the mosquitos). I wore the anklet in the evening while playing fetch with my dog. When I came back inside and removed the anklet, I could find no new bites. So I believe that it worked. But repeated use throughout the summer will be the real test. While I do like how the bracelets are able to diffuse the scent, I feel that the scent is being used up and wasted when ever I am not wearing the bracelet. There is presently no way to 'cap the cap' to prevent the unnecessary escape of the repellent scent from the bracelet once the cylinder has been placed inside the bracelet. My hunch is that more scent is released if the caps are not screwed on all the way, because there is a larger gap for the scent to escape. When the ends are screwed on all the way, tight, that would tend to release the minimal amount of scent. Just my hunch. The makers contend that the packets of cylinders/cores provided with the bracelets will give enough protection throughout the entire summer, but I still think the product could be improved upon if the bracelet could be closed up air-tight when not in use.Still, I feel fortunate to have found these, and just in time for summer.

I'm one of those people that attract mosquitoes so having an option to carry around with me without having to deal with spraying or smelling like bug spray is perfect for me.These bracelets come in resealable pouches so they can be stored away and kept "fresh" for longer. The cores are also wrapped separately which means none of them are at a risk of drying out unless specficially opened.I really like that these are essentially refillable - I have my own bug deterrant oil that I can use in this after the cores are spent. I personally think wearing both of these together make a better barrier, but those that don't attract as many mosquitoes might only need one at a time.
