Given all the time I wasted on attempting various fittings, I should have began here. The water lines for a new faucet I installed at the grandparents didn't interface properly with the old water valve. With this valve, it does. Seems as though, in the olden days, a rubber gasket and channel were built inside the water outlet side of the valve whereas today, the gasket resides in the supply hoses. Likely has to do with solid metal water line used back in the day. Great buy and good price for two.

Its 3/8 compression but the FIP is more like 1/2 so didnt fit my application
