The whole unit seems well-made with quality materials and good construction. The stainless cable sheath is much stiffer and heavier than my (non- k type) Thermapen probes.I measured the temperature of some recently boiled water and obtained180 F with the thermocouple and about 178 with my Thermapen One (which is calibrated to NIST traceable standards). I think the difference may be due to the Thermapen's much quicker response and so responded much more quickly to fluctuations while the thermocouple, with its larger thermal mass, averaged the temperature over a much longer time..

I like these type K probes. The two pack is nice. I really appreciate the clip on it which makes it great for hvac work where you can clip it onto something like a duct and get a reading. Its well protected in the ventilated cover. I can see that on the wires leading to the actual junction inside the shield that there is some insulation, which looks like it was added after that wire leading to the junction (the junction / thermal probe is exposed). These fit perfectly my brand name meter and work well. Overall thumbs up if you are okay with the price point. Overall good quality, fit and finish.
