I had a hard time deciding on which grill basket to get and DO NOT hesitate on this one! This is one thick heavy basket and it has a very large water reservoir. The pictures they show don’t do this product justice ! I cannot wait to use this ! I purchased this for my Weber 22” kettle.

This is an absolute game changer for a weber kettle grill! You can use it for smoking or grilling but as a smoker attachment its awesome! By adding your coals to the one side and banking them this allows you to have much better burn and get more time from your smoke. You can use the coal side to sear and then smoke on the other. Or you can adjust your vents and increase the temp to grill/BBQ your food. The quality is top notch. I haven't seen any warping or buckling so far. I love it!!

I have a couple dedicated BBQ Smokers, but use my Weber kettle for smoking whole chickens and ribs at around 325 degrees. I have been using 2 charcoal baskets to move the charcoal to the sides and put the meat in the middle of the grill, but this set up has one large charcoal bin with a large water tank to throw moisture into the grill while cooking-which lets you put the meat on one side and teh charcoal on the otehr. It is made of heavy guage stainless steel and the welds are very well done. If you have a 22-1/2" Weber kettle, this is a must have.

This charcoal basket is incredibly well-built and a perfect addition to my Weber grill. I have been using the SnS Slow ‘N Sear 22" stainless steel charcoal basket with trough for at least 10 years, maybe longer. I got it before they even had a presence on Amazon. It is still 100% perfect with no rust.However, the original did not have a "floor" to the charcoal part. You were supposed to just put it where you want it, fill it and leave it in place. BUT, I have a Performer Weber grill that has an automatic propane burner start, which means that I need to have charcoal baskets placed above a little pipe that brings a flame to the charcoal. (It's an awesome feature that I LOVE.) So for smoking, I'd have to put the original SnS over the somewhat centered flame and then once the charcoal was well-started, I'd have to slide the whole thing into place on the outer edge of the kettle. It's always a pain, because inevitably, I'd lose some charcoal, or the SnS would get stuck, raised up up on a briquet or two and then I'd have to play around with the whole mess to get it and the charcoal back in place.But, I couldn't bring myself to pay full price for another Sns with a bottom, because these things are not cheap.When I saw this for 1/2 the price, I took the leap and boy am I glad I did. It's 3 degrees out right now, so I'm not going to try it yet, but I can tell that this is a worthy alternative to the SnS:1. Heavy, similar weight to my original2. Well-welded and sturdy3. Fits the 22" Weber perfectly4. Neat, smooth welding, actually cleaner looking than my original, which had a lot of lumps and discoloration at the seams. Never mattered, and that's probably not true of the ones they make now...are they even still hand-made by a guy?I anticipate that it will make my smoking set up that much easier and function just as well as the SnS.One quality difference is that the edges of this piece seem a bit sharper but that may be because the old SnS was built like a tank. I DO NOT think that this new piece is going to be too sharp, such that one might cut themself, so this is not really a criticism. At half the price, it's an awesome savings.What is left to be seen is whether this one rusts. I have kept my SnS unprotected in the elements, through snow, rain and sleet. While it has grill color on it, it has NO rust, so it is legit. I'm hoping that this one doesn't need to be babied in terms of storage. That would definitely lower the stars, so I will update if I get any rust.Finally: I think the photo of this piece somehow makes it look like a thin, cheap copy of an original. It is not. It's heavy-duty.

This is probably one of best accessories for the Weber charcoal grill. I've been using the Weber charcoal baskets for years and I didn't think there was a better version out there.This is a lot bigger and taller than the Weber charcoal holder. It actually fits the level of the 22" Weber grill compared to the one from Weber. Since it is bigger and can hold a full basket of charcoal without spilling to the side. This makes it a lot easier and faster to do two zone cooling allowing you to put two ribeye steaks at the same time.The metal is pretty thick as well. It does not feel flimsy at all. Overall this is a very solid charcoal basket for the money and does the job.

US11160418B1Claim 1 describes the thermal barrier of a double-walled structure.I believe this is why most name brands avoid this design, adding their water reservoir to the outer circumference of the grill insert.All that said, this is a decent knockoff, but the double-walled chamber (water reservoir) is not removable. They don't specify what kind of stainless it is, but it's not magnetic. I like that it's a fully welded design, not rivetted. Much will depend on its corrosion resistance, even if it's primary purpose is indirect heat (aqueous salt solutions from food dripping on the other side of the grill)--I sometimes use two of these just to make clean up easier for direct heat cooking (carne asada, for instance).SnS grills is the patent holder, and I imagine they'll be sending a cease and desist letter in 3. 2. 1... upon which time this product listing will be deleted along with my review.And then a new company will string up offering a new infringing version in 3. 2. 1...The company name will be DMOGAN or SPGEOG. Or maybe. Just maybe... QWUIVM
