These sanding sponges are pretty thin. They'll work for sanding wood, but I find them to not have enough rigidity for trying to sand flat surfaces evenly. I think they'd do well for automotive sanding applications, but haven't tried that yet. They do work exceptionally well for modelling.

The sponges are thin and easily wrapped around small objects for smoothing.Installation/setup: Use wet or dry to smooth items that need it.Final thoughts: I got these to smooth 3d printed items for further use. The sponges wrap around even small parts easily, rubbing them smooth and preparing them for use or paint. I like to start with a round grit and graduate to finer grits until I feel it is smooth enough. I like these and I’m glad I got them⭐️1 star - I don't recommend it at all, poor quality.⭐️⭐️ 2 stars - I don't recommend it, it has multiple faults, or a very high price.⭐️⭐️⭐️ 3 stars - It's passable, It has some faults but the quality is ok for what it is.⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 4 stars - Product quite acceptable, it does what it promises.⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 5 stars - Product that I totally recommend.
