Have you ever wanted to use your BaoFeng radio in the car without using your battery up? Replacement for BaoFeng Battery Eliminator BL-5 is the perfect solution to this problem!
PERFECT FOR USE IN THE CAR
The battery eliminator simply slides into the clip that your battery would plug in. The other end plugs into a car's 12V DC plug so you'll have power for your Ham Radio while you are driving.Have you thought about connecting your radio to one of BaoFeng Tech's amplifiers? This would provide you a great power source for your radio as a mobile base station! You wouldn't have to worry about charging the battery before hitting the road. Any great Prepper knows that they need to have multiple fail proof ways of doing things. This battery eliminator enables you to provide power to your radio during an emergency utilizing only a 12 volt DC plug. If you have a vehicle or even a generator with an accessory output jack you will be able to stay connected with the outside world with your BaoFeng BF-F8 or UV-5R radio.
REPLACEMENT FOR BAOFENG BATTERY ELIMINATOR
Replacement for BaoFeng product is designed to output the correct 7.8V that your radio requires. Furthermore, the over current protection keeps your radio safe when power is questionable. Rest assured that you are getting the great high-quality power adapter that you are looking for. Please note that this battery eliminator is not a charger. This will not charge your radio, as the part plugs into your battery port instead of a battery.

These are built cheaply and have a poor fit and finish to them. Its literally just 12 volts in to an LM7808 voltage regulator slapped inside a battery shell. The LM7808 is rated at up to 1 amp of current, so that means that transmitting on anything other than low power could damage the battery pack. The heat sink on the voltage regulator inside the battery case is also quite lackluster, so there's also a risk of overheating.Don't buy these unless you are OK working around the limitations I outlined above...

For anyone who does a lot of driving, a good portable two-way radio is important in case of emergency. But how do you charge it and keep it ready if you need it? Easy. Get a battery that you can charge from your vehicle. For me, that radio is a Baofeng UV-5R. For me, that rechargable battery is this one right here. Plug it into the accessory power socket/cigarette lighter, clip it into your Baofeng, and feel more safe and secure knowing you'll have communications in case your phone has no service.Seriously. If you own a Baofeng radio, you should pick these up. You won't regret it one bit.

The two battery eliminaters I received aren't worth the money. I just tried to use them on two separate radios, and they died after a 30 second radio transmission. I just had the time today to diagnose the failure, and determined that the LM7808 power transistors are defective. I'm going to repair them myself, but build them up for higher amperage output, versus the 1.5 amp (questionable) output of the current components. Also, upon opening the "battery" case, one of the radio contacts had a defective solder joint. Bottom line, be careful of where and who you buy from. Also, the battery eliminaters have "factory" Li-ION labels affixed to them, even though there's no battery cells inside.

The packaging, material, quality all good. The item does not fit the GT-3TP with the UV5R as indicated in the listing.

The device works well in just a 12VDC power outlet but I wanted something a little more permanent. I had the unit hardwired to a switched power source and it works really well. My only complaint was the really small gauge of wire used in the original construction. That said, it works and at the price for two, you're always covered in a different vehicle.

Noticed that the UHF TX power output of the UV-5R was less than 1 Watt in its High setting when it needed to be closer to 6-8 Watt and the screen would go blank.Put a basic 1,800 mA battery and TX power was 6.7 Watt, screen always on.Car produce 13.8-14.0VDC, on a 15A socket, this unit outputs 7.8-8.0VDC with no load, but certainly not enough Amps to at least meet the equivalent 1.8A (1,800 mA) battery. This unit doesn't provide enough power.Returned.

Handy if you are going to be in the vehicle for an extended amount of time saved hours on charging batteries.

Great Value for the money! It works fine, it fits on the (spectrally clean) GT-5R, and it's given me no problems whatsoever, and I bought TWO of them!
