I was immediately impressed with how sturdy the shells are on these connections. They appear to be cast metal, probably zinc.Wiring these up is easy, as the circuit board is removable. Terminal blocks are all the nice 'rising clamp' style. Each terminal is labeled with the pin number, and standard RS-232 function (TXD, RXD, CTS, etc).Hardware is provided to have either standoffs or thumbscrews. Unfortunately, the thumbscrews aren't free-turning, but that would be difficult when supporting both. You also get four different sizes of plastic strain relief/clamp insert, to hold different sizes of cable.These are a bit more expensive than the plastic-shelled options, but they earn that extra cost by being much more durable. I can't really find anything to complain about, they're great.
