I made a single batch of bagels on these and much like cedar boards for grilling salmon, I suspect these are supposed to be single or very limited use items?? I cooked my bagels at 425 in the oven and they smoked my house up pretty good. They never caught fire or anything but they definitely burned. One board split down the middle and all three oozed what appears to be sap??I didn't notice any difference in taste or texture with the bagels cooked on these vs a regular sheet pan. I did give these 4 stars only because they didn't cause any issues but didn't give a full 5 stars being they did smoke a good amount.

This set of 3 natural cedar wood and original color food-grade jute fabric bagel baking boards makes the difference between a burnt and rock hard bagel with a perfectly cooked and delicious bagel. There is no comparison and there is no in-between. I didn’t realize what I was doing wrong until I saw these boards. I would boil them and bake them but they never turned out to be nice and crisp on the outside with a soft inside until I got these boards. Thoroughly soak the bagel boards to add steam in your oven, that ensures even baking, and allows any seasonings to set on the bottom of the bagel, ensuring a perfect flip onto a baking stone or baking sheet. This prevents the bagels from over baking and being dried out on the inside. The steam makes the bagels so tender on the inside that there’s no going back to the old method that was a failure or had subpar results. I never would have guessed to use soaked cedar and burlap boards in the oven; especially for baking bagels. Each board fits 3 to 4 bagels depending on how big you make them. I prefer to have a large bagel, so I can easily fit 3 on each board, for a total of 9 bagels at a time. The boards measure 16.1” L x 3.5” W. Thankfully my oven is wide enough to fit these boards just fine, but if you have a smaller stove, I suggest that you measure it before ordering. You certainly don’t want to get to the point of putting them into the oven only to find that they are too long.

I upped my bagel game thanks to these bagel boards. I make a lot of baked goods with sourdough and bagels is something I make every week.These boards are sturdy, a nice thicknesses and the burlap is placed on securely with tack nails which is better than staples in my opinion.I soaked these boards a bit, put them on my cookie sheet and placed my boiled bagels onto them with the toppings side down (for ones that had toppings) and placed them into my preheated oven for about 4 minutes. I then flipped the boards and bagels onto the cookie sheet to continue baking without the boards. I really like the results I got.After using them they rinsed off great. Be sure to only use water to clean these. Things like blueberries might stain these a little but that won’t affect how they work and function.I decided to place the boards into my still warm but turned off oven after I was done baking (after rinsing them off and patting dry) to help dry them out further. This seemed to work well so I’ll continue to do that whenever I’m done using them.I truly have no complaints. These will get used a lot and I’m glad to have them. Having 3 of these boards I should be able to make up to 9 bagels (3 per board) with my bagels that are around 135 grams starting weight and might try making smaller bagels to where I could fit 4 per board.Two thumbs up from me. I’ll update if I encounter any issues in the future but these should last a good while. If the burlap should start to degrade over time it’s easy to replace that. At this point I’m happily giving 5 stars.
