It works!! This has an ear-piercing alarm when it comes into contact with water. There are 4 contact points on the base of it that will trigger the alarm. You also get a test button that I accidentally hit multiple times and scared the heck out of myself, so watch out for it.All three sensors come with batteries that you have to install, just make sure you align the contacts from the base to the cover when installing.Good value, easy to put together, and works in detecting leaks. I have them under the sinks in the kitchen and bathrooms.

These little sensors are lifesavers! I placed one under the kitchen sink, one by the washing machine, and one in the bathroom—and wow, they work. The alarm is LOUD (in a good way)—you won’t miss it if there’s a leak. Setup was simple, and while the WiFi gateway isn’t included, they still work great as standalone alarms. I sleep better knowing I’ll be alerted before a small leak becomes a big disaster. Definitely worth every penny for protecting your home from water damage! If I wanted to splurge I'd have bought the ones that will text you if you're away from your home, but I felt like I needed to see if these would even be needed before I make an investment. I AM happy I got these. There was a small leak (thankfully it was a bottle that tipped over and not a pipe that burst) and boy the sound let me know something was up! I'd say also a good idea to stick these by the refrigerator, dishwasher, etc. Anything that has anything to do with water.

The Ruikoring water leak detector worked very well in detecting water leaks. I tested it by using just putting a few tablespoons of water on the bottom of a drain pan and it instantly detected it. So the water detector worked very rapidly in sensing water in the drain pan with water not even covering the entire bottom of the pan.The water leak detector has a very loud alarm that can be adjusted to 3 different levels or muted. There is also a small LED that flashes in conjunction with the alarm sounding when water is detected. The detector is powered by 2 AAA batteries.I did find that setting the volume levels took a bit to master. You have to press the Test button for 3 secs and then let go to set a volume level. Repeat again to cycle to the next volume level. You'll hear 3 beeps for the max vol level, 2 beeps for the mid-volume level, 1 beep for the low volume level, and no beep (but red LED light flashes) for the muted alarm level. Do not press the Test button for longer than 3 secs to set the alarm level; make sure to release the Test button after 3 secs. Pressing the Test button too long (like 10 secs) will turn the detector off. When the alarm sounds, you can silence it by pressing the Test button. I really liked how the alarm sound cycles. There is an initial long alarm (13 secs) and then it will continuously sounds the alarm for 2 secs every 13 secs until you silence it.For bottom leak detection (water at the bottom of drain pan), there are 4 metal pins that when coming in contact with the water will cause the alarm to sound. The drip leak detection is on top of the detector, and is a small shallow indentation at the top of the detector. I found that the dripping water needs to drip or come in contact with the small moisture detection strips in indentation before the alarm sounds. It seems that it would be difficult to position the detector precisely under a water pipe so that any drip/leak falls into the indentation to trigger the alarm. It would work if the leak was large enough to spray water all over the top of the detector.I initially thought that these detectors will notify you via your smartphone if there is a leak, but apparently you need to purchase a separate hub to link the detectors to your smartphone. So I couldn't test this feature as I didn't have the associated hub.As standalone water leak detectors, these RUIKORING detectors are flexible and function well. I feel that having these leak detectors in drain pans in potential leak areas such as under the sink, water heater, and washing machine may provide early warning of leaks and help to avoid further water damage.

These Water Leak Alarm Detectors work great. They come with 2 double AA batteries for each detector. They're easy to take apart to install the batteries, but I had some trouble getting them back together until I realized that there's a little line on each half that has to line up.I like that the volume level is adjustable, as they are quite loud. However, the louder volume is great for the ones in the basement.I tested them with a small amount of water, and they beeped immediately. Pushing the test button turns it off.I didn't want to download the app, because it seems useless that it only works within 328 feet of the detectors. The only reason to use the app is if you want an alert when you're away from home. These seem to be good quality water leak detectors, at a fair price.

I am little frustrated with the marketing info with this product. They need to do much better job of stating exactly what these things can do with and without the gateway/hub. In case you are confused as I was, I know now and I will summarize. Here's what you get with these stand along detectors: These units will sense water and sound off an alarm. There is NO phone integration. And because of that, you can't change the alarm tone but you can change alarm volume level. Its basically a simple water alarm with very little control.

My basement does not have a sump or drains for floodwater to drain into.My laundry room is on the first floor with no drain capabilities.A broken hose or pipe fitting could be disastrous, especially of no one was home at the time.My brother's basement flooded 3 feet deep when the supply hose for his washing machine broke. So, I've been eagerly looking for a leak detector for each area that would get someone's attention, and also notify me if I was away when disaster struck. These detectors are quite loud and can be heard throughout my house. My only complaint is that the detectors require a gateway, and that does not come with the 3-pack of sensors.Overall, I think these sensors provide peace-of-mind when it comes to water leaks. I think they have the potential to save a homeowner tens of thousands of dollars in repair bills. I consider that as great value in home repair and maintenance.
