The material composition of this batting strip is slightly different (poly/cotton blend) than the popular name brand batting on a roll found in quilt shops, but it’s also a third of the price. I ordered this to use for jelly roll rugs and since they’re going on the floor, it’s not worth it to me to spend three times as much for the name brand batting. It does feel a bit thinner but also remember that for jelly roll rugs, you’ll be sewing through four layers of batting plus four layers of fabric. You don’t want super thick batting—well you might but if you do you’d better have a heavy duty machine. I don’t want to spend the time to hand cut strips from large batting pieces so this is a great economical alternative to the name brand one found in quilt shops.
