I never liked wasting leftover batting and used to piece scraps together using a double zig-zag stitch on my sewing machine. This worked, but I worried that it would be a weak spot in the batting and possibly create a hard line or ridge that would be felt through the fabric. I never realized that fusible batting tape existed, but now that I do I love it! This is a perfect way to join two scraps of batting without creating weak points or leaving a sewn ridge line. Just line up the batting strips and overlap a bit (I probably overlapped a little too much my first time around). Next, place the batting tape over the overlap area and make sure the rough side is facing down, onto the batting. This is the glue side. Next, press with a medium iron and the two pieces will be fused into one. There is no bulk and the glue seemed solid enough that the pieces would not pull apart. I tried this first on more of a craft type batting rather than quilting batting and it held just fine. The craft batting is much thinner and still held, so this will be great on quilt batting.
