Phooi leaf, Red Vine spinach, Climbing spinach, Malabar nightshade, Alugbati or Alabati, Vietnamese Spinach, Creeping spinach, Ceylon spinach, Indian spinach, Philippine Spinach, Asian Spinach, rau mồng tơi. This heat-loving Asian vine has lovely red stems and delicious, succulent leaves that are great in salads and stir-fries. I live in the desert of Phoenix, AZ. This is one of the few crops that grow in the desert. I planted these last summer and they grew amazing. This year they re-seeded all on their own, and once gin grew great. The quality of the seed was superb.I like this variety as it has a pretty purple vine. The leaves can be eaten. The taste is mild, but they are a bit slimy like okra.Overall, I'm very happy and would buy these again, if needed.

I got these last year and put the seed in water for a day then transferred to soil. Kept the soil moist for a while till they sprouted then transferred to my garden bed. They were beautiful to look at and tasted great. I brought them inside before frost and they were ok but died eventually (maybe overwatering or underwater I don't remember). But I got me new seeds and I love them. Definitely they don't like dry soil and I suggest putting them next to a support.

8 out of 8 seeds turned into seedlings, to my surprise. 4 took 3 days longer than the rest (10 days, even with sitting on a heating mat), but that's well within expectations. They're growing well, but cold weather definitely slows the plants down, as does being too dry. I underestimated the amount of water they want; definitely a tropical vine!
