I have an early 1900s pick and needed a handle for it. I followed a YouTube video how to shave the end down so it best fits in the opening. It is a fair amount of work, but fits perfectly.Someone complained about having to sand too much, but each head is different, and the old ones were hand-forged, so you have to adjust the handle end by shaving and sanding.Another noted that it did not come in the nice dark color as shown, and this is accurate. It has a basic finish on it, which I sanded off to smooth the handle, and then applied my own coating. It is a nice piece of hardwood.

Great looking handle, my application was a 130yr old family pick, so dimensions might have changed over time because I did have to sand down certain areas to minimize the gap between the sides of handle. it worked well at the end. MAKE SURE YOU ALSO GET METAL WEDGES FOR THIS (if not using screws or bolts)

The handle does not match the product image, the darker stain being the reason I purchased this over others.It also does not seem very new. Perhaps I got a used one. It will function, which is all I need, but if you're looking for a showpiece then look elsewhere.This is too expensive for what you get.

I went to Home Depot for this wood handle & they were all out of stock, so I ordered it, arrived today so I can attach to this Red 80 year old mattocks that belonged to my Grandpa.

End knob is a solid 20 degrees twisted from the tool. Potentially dangerous to use.
