The white caps are plastic. They would feel more premium as silicone. But they are all metal pegs with plastic protective caps, and they do the job.

These Steel support pegs are a great replacement for old, deteriorating plastic shelf support pegs. These stainless steel pegs have a plastic tip which can be removed. Be careful not to lose them. These pins should fit securely into most pre-drilled holes in kitchen cabinets. Just make sure the diameter is appropriate for your kitchen cabinets. Sometimes the pegs will fit securely when installed by hand. Sometimes you may require a mallet to have the peg fully inserted into the opening. Do not use a hammer because you may break the plastic cap on the peg And you may exert too much force and crack your cabinet wall. I was surprised when I checked my 20-year-old kitchen cabinets and found that several of the plastic pegs were basically falling out. It is best to replace all four pegs for a shelf at the same time to ensure The shelf remains fully horizontal and does not tilt even slightly to one corner.
