These spikes are amazing. Everyone else in my group who had spikes slipped and even fell. With these spikes I walked without any concerns.

Last summer, on a backpack trip in the California Sierra Nevada, we had to turn back when we ran into an ice field that had been created by the record snowfall in early 2023.I feel confident that these ice cleats could have gotten us over that ice and I plan to add these to my backpack gear. They are relatively light and pack small.I had some difficulty getting the XL size to fit on my size 13 Keens, but with some struggle I got them on (just be careful none of the chain links are hooked on the spikes). They fit tightly so I do not think I need to use the velcro straps. However, the chain links connecting to the rubber are pulled very tight. This could be a breakage point under use, but I plan to carry some strong zip ties that can attach the chain to the major rubber section as a backup.Once on the boot, the cleats fit well and have spikes underneath the soles and heels. They feel pretty good stomping around the yard and I used them on our back slope when clearing some brush, they worked terrific to grip on that hard soil. We've had a mild winter so far, there has not been much chance yet to get out on the snow.I think these traction cleats are a deal at $27 and should work just fine in any hard snow/ice hiking situation I run into. I would suggest something more serious if you plan to go ice climbing.

We haven't yet had snow nearby, so I haven't tried these out in the real world. I have, however, tried these on and walked around the yard to see how they fit and if they would feel secure. I'm pretty happy with them, so far. They're easy to put on and feel secure on my feet. The cleats are situated under my foot, not like others that I've used that have the cleats clanging around on the edge of my feet. So, basically, the sizing is good. I also really like the velcro strap that goes across the top to secure the cleats to my shoes. I've been with too many friends over the years who basically walked out of their snow cleats or micro-spikes because they didn't have the strap across the top of the foot. - If there's more to add after I use these outside in the snow and ice, I'll come back and edit it. In the meantime, I think these are just fine.

I don't know about you, but I don't want to break any bones falling on ice in the winter. I've never broken a bone yet, & I'm determined to keep it that way. So these are not my first ice cleats- they're my third & easily the best pair. The others were different brands, incidentally. I actually wore out the first pair (the kind with springs stretched & criss-crossing underneath- & by the way, those are actually slippery on a smooth floor- yikes!) & my second pair is waiting in the closet- they have very short metal nubs on the bottom, & not that many, so while they do work, they aren't the best either, plus after a couple years you run the risk that the rubber straps will get dried out & break. So when I saw these, I was impressed & couldn't resist buying a pair: they have 32 real spikes to grip anything winter dishes out, plus they're linked with metal chains that also grip snow & ice. They're easy to put on- I tried them out over my shoes (there's no snow yet) & they fit perfectly. You start by stretching them over the toe of your shoes (they're marked "front"), then continuing to stretch them back over the heels. You can then use the included velcro straps over the tops of your shoes or boots to completely fasten them to your footwear, but even without the straps, these fit snug & feel very secure. These have awesome traction- no kidding. I don't do any winter hiking- I just don't care to fall & break anything when I shovel snow & ice out of my driveway & off my sidewalks every winter. These even come in a handy carrying case. Pay close attention to the size chart- they're unisex, & you need to consider what footwear you'll be installing them on. Trail runners fit closer on your feet, whereas hiking boots are larger, & fishing or insulated boots are larger still, so you'll want to order the size that fits your type of footwear the best. These are perfect whether you're a winter sportsman/sportswoman, or you work outside in treacherous weather, or you just have to navigate winter parking lots, or merely want to get to & from the mailbox in one piece- in other words, these are great for anyone that lives with winter snow & ice. Forget glamor, be safe.
