For some reason a long time ago food stopped flowing into the garbage disposal, maybe the rubber pieces have changed. I bought this so I don't have to use my hand or scrub brush and it's great. Just make sure your rubber stopper fits snug otherwise it will come up.

I wanted to replace my old disposal strainer because it is falling apart after years of use. This one is not the replacement I was seeking - this only STOPS the water from going down the sink (it does that fine but I literally never fill my sink with water) It is not what is advertised (stopper/strainer). There is no strain feature You can't leave it in the drain to prevent unwanted material from going down the drain/disposal as you rinse dishes in the sink, etc. Had to return.
