Love how this assortment comes with basically all the punches you'd need. Great value, and they've all felt sturdy and solid to me. I mostly do woodworking, but have also been cutting aluminum and recently started welding, so having a variety of these markets/punches on hand makes having the right tool for the right material easy and useful.

These punches all work great. As expected, the larger punch requires a bit more force to actuate, but it was a bit more than anticipated so is difficult to use in low leverage positions where having a center point recessed can help get a screw started easier.I'm confused by the mismatched steel housing on the large punch, but it doesn't affect the function. They all worked as well as expected on wood. I don't have a lot of need to use for metalworking, so I'm unsure if the hardness is sufficient to mark metal repeatedly or extensively. I was able to use these to drive some finish nails, which had been protruding, back into my molding where I was unable to get in with a hammer and manual punch.

I have a few of these spring-loaded center punch tools and the one thing that always happens is that they get jammed after a few uses. The fix is easy you just have to unscrew all the parts and let the spring realign itself with the impact pin. At least that is what usually works for me. This is a tool that I like to use quite often, and it is annoying to have to go through these steps to keep the tool functioning. So, when I saw this set of three, I wanted to give them a try. I received them the other day and the next day I had a piece of scrap wood ready to test them. The results are as follows.1).. Small 5" punch (without red palm rest ball on top).. this made it through 20 uses no jams. This is all metal tool and comes apart easily by unscrewing it. It is in three sections and has a spare punch tip.2).. Small 5" punch (with red palm rest).. This punch made it through 20 uses and only jammed once. I took it apart and was able to get through 20 more uses without a jam this time. It is also metal with three sections and easy to unscrew. An extra punch tip is included.30.. Larger 6" punch.. This punch was very hard to use. The amount of force you need to make it auto punch is so great that you are already leaving an indent in your work and your hand before the spring connects with the plunger. I made it through 5 punches before my palm was too sore to continue, but it did not jam. I unscrewed the three sections of this punch and tried to see if I could adjust it in any way to make it need less force to punch. The spring is just very strong. I tried using a dead blow hammer and that just bounced off the punch. Finally a 5# sledge hammer did the trick, but as you can imagine that is overkill and not practical. FYI the big one comes with an extra punch tip as well. These punches arrived in a clear plastic case and each punch was in its own plastic baggie.I deducted one star for the difficulty using the large punch and it could just be a matter of the one I received had a really tough spring. There were no reviews at the time of posting this one, so I am not sure if other people had the same experience as I did.Bottom line.. two decent punches and one really hard to use punch for just under $20.00. You can definitely find cheaper, but are they better. Who knows, I guess you just have to take a chance. Hope this info is helpful....

I drill a lot of metal, so a good punch is a necessity. These are very good for the price. The quality is on par with some bigger names from the box store. These are a great value, and they work great.

This is a well made set of punches. They produce clean and precise starter marks for drilling pilot holes. The only thing "automatic" about these punches are the springs which compress when you strike the head with the hammer and decompress after the hit.For many of my applications (starting screws for countersunk hardware like hinges, coat hooks, etc.), I still have to rely on my Stanley spring-loaded self-centering punches (aka jiffy centering punches).

For the cost of these three punches (about $19 at the time of this review), plus the extra tips included, these are priced in the same range as the cheapest aluminum punches at the discount hardware store. That led me to worry when the first punch I tried, the regular 5", barely moved. I found some very old grease and some debris in the threads and springs, that had to be cleaned up to get it working. Fortunately, that only took a minute (with an old toothbrush), after which the punch works smoothly and easily. That was the only issue I had with these punches, for which I took off a star. Beyond that, they have steel bodies, strong springs, and comfortable knurling with no sharp edges. The tips are listed as tempered S2 steel. When I tested them, they easily marked everything I tried them on. The metal also looks like other S2 tools I have. When I took my HRC files to the tips the 55 skated right across. The HRC60 file got a little bit of bite, but only just. While these are not quite as nice as my Starrett center punch, they work almost as well. For the cost of the Starrett, I can give several of these sets as gifts this year.

Great set for every size hole punch you will ever need. These were always a tool I looked at but never wanted to spend the money for something I thought a nail punch could do. I couldn’t be more wrong. Highly recommend getting this set

A very complete set of automatic spring punch. It’s a set of (3) One is large with a powerful spring and the others are more traditional with one having a nice ball at the end.All work quite fine. They all come with replacement tips, I guess if you did a lot of steel punchingyou might need them over time. The overall quality is fair, differently will do the job.I think the one with the ball will get the most uses, much nicer feel then my olderstandard model.
