These ball do indeed glow in the dark, not quite to the degree the picture shows, but enough to play a little catch with the grandkids right before it gets dark. The balls remind me of the t-balls we used with the kids 30 years ago, a lower impact, but certainly not a toy / foam ball. If the grandkids were older we could do more some pickle, as the likelihood of getting plunked increases - but the softer ball will leave less dents on their bodies. If you love having a catch with the kids, it extends the window of time to do it by a few more minutes in the evenings.
