It's a bit flimsy, so I'm not sure I'd use this on snakes that could put me in the hospital or the ground. For relocating garter and black snakes, I suspect it'll be very convenient and do the job easily.

The Snake hook collapses pretty small, the material feels rather solid, but still akin to telescoping antennas or rods, a lot more sturdy however. The hook does a decent job supporting quite a bit of weight. As long as you have a smaller snake and nothing abnormally large, you should be good with this snake hook.Definetly recommend keeping around incase you do have a run in with a nope-rope that needs relocating.

This snake hook is exactly what I needed—lightweight but strong, and the grip feels secure in my hand. It’s long enough to keep a safe distance while handling my snakes or cleaning enclosures. The hook is smooth and doesn’t snag. I keep it safely stored by hanging it on a wall hook in my reptile room. Definitely a great tool for both beginners and experienced handlers!

This is a nice telescoping snake hook, but it does feel a bit flimsy. I wouldn't recommend using it on big snakes.

This was more of less what I expected. It isn't a professional-quality item. As another reviewer stated, I wouldn't use it for anything dangerous. We have a few nonvenomous snakes on our property occasionally and I got this to relocate them and as something for the kids to play with.It is definitely on the lightweight side of things. My biggest concern, which might be typical for these things, is that the telescoping handle doesn't lock. That means you can't stop the hook from rotating, which could be important for controlling a snake.

Love the adjustable length. This allows flexibility to work with small and fast snakes like Pygmy Rattlesnakes or Corals - then expand to get a safer distance for mid-size pit vipers like Copperheads or Cottonmouths. Also makes it more easily portable - easy fit in my backpack or in the back seat pocket of my car.Downside: I was at first worried that the lightweight material would not be safe to use for a larger snake, but upon extension I found it sturdy enough for everything listed above. I would NOT however trust it with any of the heavier North American venomous reptiles; such as Timber or Diamondback rattlesnakes - they would definitely overload it.Secondly - the extensions sections hold by friction only; there is no locking mechanism. With repeated use, I would expect that to wear over time making the hook unusable. I do expect to get my money's worth in local captures and relocations however.

The good thing about this snake hook is that it's compact, lightweight and portable. The bad news is the "lightweight" part of that.If you're dealing with a smaller garden or pet snake, this is probably fine. If it's anything larger or dangerous you should probably find something else. Removing a garter snake? No problem. The rattlesnakes we have around hunting camp? Not a chance. The length isn't the problem, it will work in that regard. The problem is the lightweight construction of the shaft, it's not stiff or sturdy enough for a decent size rattlesnake, and the hook section is also fairly small making it sub optimum for some of the snakes they claim it can be used on.
