This solder worked very well on joining sheet metal seams. The acid core did a good job cleaning the surface of the standard steel sheet metal allowing the solder to flow evenly and adhere to the surface. The flux residue clean easily with a rag and water. On galvanized roofing sheetmetal to ensure a good water tight seam I used Harris SCLF4 Stay Clean Soldering Flux to prepare the surface before soldering.

I was trying to solder a shower valve with lead free solder and it was a disaster. Spent hours and the joint kept leaking. Wasted a huge amount of solder. The lead free solder has a much higher melting point and it did not flow correctly into the brass shower valve. This 40/60 soldered great. It is 60% lead and 40% tin. It has a lower melting point and flowed into the joint freely. Worked first time with no leaks.
