I received this today and in preparation I had reinstalled my base tail rack on the BMW. I lined up the provided base plate, used it to mark for holes and drilled specifically for this plate. I added my own hardware that was also M6 in size but a little shorter and black in color versus the longer bolts provided. Once everything was attached it was fairly easy to mount the box on the plate but it needed a good shove to engage all four corners. I'm sure over time it will loosen up and get easier. The lid stays open when the bike is on the center stand and the only lid related issue I foresee is the plastic lid stays that appear to be glorified zip ties. Some stainless wire or an actual locking hinge would be a nice improvement but I understand this is trying to hit a price point. The interior is padded fabric but can be removed to expose hardware if needed. Four pieces of conspicuity tape are provided as well as keys that work for locking the lid and the box to the base. The two padded pieces for the pillion were not used but the thought is nice. The lid provides tie down points as well as spots to grab the box to carry into your garage or hotel room. With the box removed one can leave the base plate in place and run soft luggage easily over the top. Time will tell how it holds up to weather, drops and tree branches. I like it. 4.5/5

The "universal" mounting plate is a little hokey in how it fits up to the bike. And there are no real instructions. But once you figure out exactly how you want it and get it bolted into place, it's great. The build quality of the case itself is so good I'm not docking it for the mounting. And the case-to-mounting plate interface is pretty slick. It locks to the mounting plate with the same key that locks the case. It's VERY well built with some really handy (and also well built) accessory pockets inside.

Solid and sturdy , my son loved it. Im not "bike guy" and gave it as a gift and he liked. Easy to assembly , good storage space, looks like so nice too. Recommend
