Operation of these tuners is very rough. The gears seem to catch while turning so full force of turning the button is transferred to the housing. The ‘pins’ that hold the housing into the banjo head are little more than a paper clip, they bend. I installed these tuners on a pretty cheap (thankfully) banjo uke, a couple turns of the button spun the tuner around in the wood routing out a ring, damaging the banjo. 3 others from the package installed and operated fine, but one was so crappy and malfunctioning out of the package that I’d recommend spending a couple extra bucks to get into the $60+ tier for “cheap tuners”.

Just like all the similarly designed Asian zinc banjo pegs sold for $35 or less these are very poorly made. Very rough turning and should be higher to allow more string wraps. Spend a little more and get a set of Gold Tone’s or Gotoh’s. Avoid these and others like them. You get what you pay for. They are going back, Total junk.
