I ordered these because the very first line of the description states that they "have the actual inner size is 3.5"x 3.5"Unfortunately, they have the actual inner size of just over 4" so do not fit 4x4 posts. The various measurements in the images show these as being 4" wide so I would have assumed they were if not for the contradictory description. Now I have a box of post caps that don't fit anything

The worked perfectly on my 4x4 light posts. I wanted a way to protect the tops on the posts and didn't want white. These went on easily and look great. I would recommend putting a bead of silicone on around them to give them even more protection, but they look great! Wife is very happy with them!

These are a solid deep black, glossy. I have had issues with the end grain of deck posts rotting before so wanted to take steps to protect the new posts going in. Didn't want metal that might heat up a lot in our TX sun. The screws that came with them are a bit tiny, I might use some a bit longer though these would likely work fine if not getting banged around a lot.

The plastic cap is adequate short term for keeping the post dry, The resistance to UV is unknown and will impact the longevity of protection. The cap is a full 4 inches and “4” inch posts are 3.5 inches. TheTiny 3/8 “ steel screws do not reach the post and not recommend for Treated lumber. I used 4d galvinized box nails for securing cap to post.

These caps fit snugly on the end of a 4x4 (US lumber dimension that is 3 1/2 x 3 1/2 actual). There are two small holes for small color-matched screws (included) to keep the caps in place. The caps are watertight so the post ends are completely protected from rain and snow. The product description claims, "High Quality ASA Material: The 4x4 post cap has good weather resistance and chemical resistance, can maintain the stability of the outdoor humidity, rain, light, rain and snow for a long time,no aging, no fading, no deformation." They claim this ASA plastic is built to take harsh weather for many years and for now I'll take them at their word. As this product costs a reasonable slightly over two dollars per cap, currently, given the presumably high quality weather-resistant plastic and longevity, I will rate it five stars.
